Removing Grille From Gmt-900?

I'm trying to replace my all black WT front end on my '07 Silverado to chrome. Tonight I tried to swap the grilles out but ran into trouble with the 6 clips that are part of the grille. The upper air baffle came off just fine and I did unscrew the four screws on top of the grille.I tried using channel locks to pinch down on the clips, a screwdriver to pry on them, and just pulling hard on the grille itself. I'm afraid of pulling too hard and breaking something though. What's the simple solution to this that I'm just not figuring out? While we're at it I want to swap out the bowtie logos too. The one on my truck is in much better condition than the one on the grille I bought. Is that just as simple as pinching the clips in and pulling it outward? Needlenose pliers will work. The longer and skinnier the better. You want to get compress only the part right behind the support bracket. Start in the center and do those four, then the two sides. Don't worry about it falling as its held by the tabs on the top in the center. You'll hear it click if you get it. Don't expect it to come right out. As a word of caution too, If you do it enough times, the clips will break. The metal just isn't strong enough to do this repeatedly. I need to replace a couple as a result.

 

BTW, I asked my body guy what the best tool for this was, he said nobody really makes one and the best you'll find is needlenose pliers.
