5.7 Vortec specs

About how much horsepower does a 1997 5.7 Vortec engine produce? The engine is the exact same as I bought it, no mods or anything.

Around 245 hp@4600 and 325 ft lbs torque at 2800rpm

I thought we were talking about a 5.7 not a 5.3

The 245 numbers are actual dyno numbers on a stock engine, not advertised GM figures. Depending on small factors (air temp, fuel quality etc) these will vary, but those are the numbers +/- 5hp depending on the day of the week.

Per GM, its 255hp@4600 and 330lb ft@2800 depending on the vehicle.. (notice the a,b,or c advertised ratings here)

Oops! Why did I point to a 5.3l...losing it I guess.

The spec for the 5.7l are at;

Obviously this is per GM advertising.

Compare these specs to the ones for the 5.7l engine in my 1979 Suburban 165 Hp at 3600 rpm and 270 lb-ft at 2000 rpm.
