Tranny Slip

I have a 2002 Chevy K1500 w/ 5.3L V-8. I seem to have a slip in the tranny between 1st and 2nd gear. I heard from somewhere that there was a TSB issued from GM on this. Also my spare tire carrier failed at 1K miles. Has anyone else had this issue? The first mechanic that spoke to the service writer aboutht eh spare carrier issuse said that the holes in the side of the carrier were for water to drain out (not the three riverts that were popped!) Ha!... Thanks Guys....

I have a '01 Silverado extra-cab, 2WD, 5.3, Automatic, 15, 000 miles. It has had a " slip/shudder " since day 1. It happens during the 1st to 2nd shift under light accelleration. I've had it to 2 dealers in the Va. Beach area with no satisfactory results. One dealer service manager told me that until Chevrolet tells him any different that's how it's supposed to shift. I have another appt. at dealer #3 in about a week. I just want to have documentation that I've experienced problems since the begiining. .

There are some reprogrammings that are available, but the dealers are reluctant to do this because I think that GM has told them not too. I think the reason for this is because this programming may reduce fuel mpg's slightly, and that in turn would bring down the fleet numbers for GM since the 1/2 ton trucks are metered in the companies minimum mpg fleet requirements.

I didn't believe it would work but it did. I had the shudder off and on from day one. I saw this in a post here sometime back. Try it, you will be surprised !
