I just tried Valvoline's fic plus intake valve cleaner. I can't say that I've noticed anything though. Of course I didn't let the tank run low either. :D

Well, that's sort of what I'm getting at. Are fuel injector cleaners really that effective? Or just a waste of money?

I use Berryman's B-12 Chemtool fuel injector cleaner once every 3 months or so. (sames folks that make B-12 carb sprays and racing additives) I have no scientific proof that it helps but it's cheap to do and I've never had a fuel related problem in any of my vehicles.

I've used B-12, Techron, Lucas and BG 44K. The B-12 I've been using in 1980 Silverado occasionally. In my '04 I've used Techron and Lucas. Just dumped a can of 44K in a few weeks ago, figured it couldn't hurt after 62K. I can't say any one is better than other from my drivers seat. Techron and BG 44K have excellent reputations. Techron and BG smell like they would work better. biggrin.gif

The only way I'd say they might be a waste of money is if you use them too frequently, such as every tank. That would be overkill IMHO.

Techron is magic elixir. It cleared up misfire problems on several vehicles I've owned. It even fixed my snowblower last winter.

I use a tankful at each oil change.

That Chevron/Techron stuff does work great, but everywhere I have seen it for sale it is always a lot more expensive then the other brands.

I like Valvoline Syntec Full-synthetic Fuel System Cleaner. Used it once and noticed a big difference. Used it again and didn't really notice anything the second time but it was probably because the engine wasn't that dirty anymore.

I dont know I'm skeptical about these products. The fuel injectors run at really high pressure. I cant imagine anything clogging a nozzle. I dont really know that much about the injectors in gas engines but I recently replaced injectors in an old Galion Grader with an International diesel engine. The fuel pressure I'm sure is higher in the diesel but the fuel had worn channels into the steal pre cup. in other words the fuel was under enough pressure to cut metal. I cant imagine what some snake oil mixed at such dilution could possibly do. I also wonder what it could do to all the damn sensors. I do have a "78 harley shovel head which was designed to run on 95 octane leaded high test. These engines are known to need valve jobs at 40,000 miles. mine has well over 50,000 dispite no lead to lube the valves. I use a cap full of marvel Mystery Oil when ever I remember.

The one that Amsoil sells is guaranteed to improve mileage, or they give your money back. Let me know if you want to try

Techron Is all we use in our fleet of Fords. Some of our Rangers Idle around all Day and Night and we started having Misfires caused by injector problems. After a 45 minute injector flush with motorvac detergent, The misfires are gone the fuel trims are back to perfect and the Engine is smooth running once again. I then put a bottle of Techron in the tank and ship it down the road. Now every 5000 miles when they come in for service they all get a bottle of Techron . We havent had any more problems since we started using it. Techron is the Only thing i can say definately works.
