2007 Suburban Tsb Request

We tow a 24' travel trailer with our '07 1500 Suburban, and often hear an annoying whistling noise from the rear hatch window when towing. It only happens at highway speeds, and seems to be worse when it's windy. A backseat passenger once told us that he could see the window lifting and fluttering back and forth as it was whistling.

 

I've heard of other people with the same problem, and even seen posts where people have had GM fix this under warranty. I've even seen a referencer to a TSB about this issue, but my dealer says he can't find anything about it in his system.

 

Can anyone here point me to this mystery TSB?

#06-08-66-012C: Windnoise From Rear of Vehicle/Liftgate Glass (Replace Seal, Stop Bumpers and Rear Glass)

 

Condition

Some customers may comment on excessive windnoise coming from the rear of the vehicle, especially when trailering.

 

Cause

The rear glass may not have enough compression to the seal.

 

Correction

Replace the liftgate glass seal, the two liftgate glass rubber stop bumpers and the rear liftgate glass, which has more "tuck" or curvature that allows for better seal contact and resolves the windnoise issue.

 

A liftgate latch adjustment may also be necessary.

Hope that helps your local dealer. Please don't burn them on CSI, it was extremely hard to find, I only kept looking because I had also heard something similar.

They've been good to work with, so no worries about me giving them a hard time. I had a similar issue a few weeks ago with an updated part for my motorcycle, so I know these things can happen. As long as the dealer is interested in working with me to get the problem solved, all's good in my books.
