Does any one know if there is something I can buy for my 2006 5.3 to turn it into fuel-saving displacement on demand engine? I know there is nothing different inside the actual motor, its all in the computer.

Nope, completely wrong, the cams and lifters are different...I wouldn't even bother with it, the "fuel savings" is very marginal.

Wrong! It has different lifters on 4 of the cylinders. It also has other internal components for actuating these lifters hydraulically (valves, solenoids, etc).

Yep,Some of the internal parts are different.

Also your 2006 uses a "GEN III" engine,The '07-up GMT900 trucks have "GEN IV" engines,There are some differences between the two.

I do not know what you are getting for milage. I am only getting 16 on the highway at 65. It has 2400 miles on it now and has not got any better.

my 8 year old truck averages 18mpg a tank...and gets 21 on the highway. Who the **** needs that active displacement crap?

My old Sierra actually got better highway mileage than my new Silverado with AFM (both 5.3, 4x4, 1500, same gears, etc). Although it did have a hardcover on it, and this one is still open bed.
