Building A New 4l80e, Need Some Info

Hey yall,

I picked up a core 4L80E and I am going to build it to swap into my 02 1500HD. I am *VERY* hard on this truck, so i want to build it with decent stuff that will hold up good. This is where my questions start.

1) What is a good brand of clutch? I have seen raybestos, borg warner, and Alto. I have asked one transmission shop around here (albeit not a very reputable one) and I was told that Raybestos is the top of the line and borg warner is right with them. However, online I have gathered that Alto (more particularly, the Red Eagle) clutches are the favorite among highly abused transmissions. I am looking at a nice kit with Borg-Warner frictions, but am worried about the longevity. I have also read that Kolene steels are a must; truth or fiction? For real, order a list of best to crap for me.

2) Where is a good place -online- to buy a complete kit at a non-gimmick price? They must accept paypal, as I dont have a credit card. (the last thing I need as many other people in their 20's can attest to). Preferably less than 350$ (lol)

3) Is it a stupid idea (be honest) to re-use the 4 solenoids inside the trans? The core I am building is a 2003 model that had approx 35K miles on it. It was out of a company/commercial truck. I was told the only known issue with it, is slippage on the 1>2 upshift at part throttle.

Like I said, I want the most complete & best kit I can get for the price that has the bushing and seals that I need, as well as both bands and all that jazz.

I have found these two listings on ebay. I would appreciate an honest opinion of both.

Kit #1

Kit #2

I was leaning toward Kit #2, for what it's worth. If you guys think of anything I may be passing up, mention it! I appreciate all the help!
