pkeithkelly Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I just purchased a used 2000 Sierra 2500 4WD, with 5.7L I want to change the manual transmission fluid, but have 2 questions: 1. how much fluid to add after draining? The tag on the case says use Castrol Syntorq LT, GM PN: 18306 2. I can see the leveling plug, but no filler plug or drain plug - what gives? appreciate the help.. This is a great truck. Keith Kelly, Encinitas, CA They are a good truck i have a 99 2500 with a 5.7 and 5 speed. I think you add 3-4 quarts its been a while since i changed mine and to drain the fluid you have to pull the pto cover off. The other thing i did with my tranny was i added an elbow to the filler so you can put a little more in the transmission it wont hurt your transmission. I was given that bit of advice by a heavy equipment mechanic. I hope that helps you.
