Tranny Swap

I am looking at buying an 89 K2500 extended cab long bed pickup w/ a 350 motor and a non-OD tranny. How difficult would it be to swap in a 700r4? Will any 4wd model 700 work, would I need the transfer case too, etc. I'm hoping there's a how-to out there, but couldn't find one. Would like to read on swapping in a 454 too for grins

I'm assuming the non-OD tranny you are refering to is a TH400. If so, try contacting Outlaw Transmissions or visit their website. I believe they offer a Th400 to 700R4 conversion kit.

I am not promoting them, as I've heard good things and bad things about them. But they do offer a conversion kit. Also you'll probably need to shorten your driveshaft by a few inches.
