HI-Lift Jacks

For those out there that do a lot of off-roading or have a lifted truck, does anyone have/use a "Hi-Lift" jack?

If so,

where did you get it?

how much?

And do you have the mounting kit for it in your truck bed?

Thanks in advance...

They're about 50 bucks and just about every offroad store online sells them.  They work great, a buddy of mine had one.  I don't know how well it would work on your truck though.  I mean, you probably don't want to wrinkle your bumpers by jacking them up with it.  But, if you tow a trailer they work well.  Great for a lot of applications.  You can use it to winch yourself out as well.

What kind of Jack can I use/get?  My factory jack no longer reaches my frame!  Expected of course, with the lift kit and all, but if I get a flat, I'm screwed :)

If you just want a jack for mechanical use get a 2 or 3 ton floor jack.  If they don't reach quite high enough just put a 6x6 block on top of it.  Those factory jacks are pretty much useless even if your truck is stock height.

Cool, I just want something to keep in the truck.  I figured the hi-lift jack would be good because they have the mounting hardware for the bed for like $25.  But if you can only do it against the bumper, I don't know if our Chevy's can be lifted by the bumper...  THey have a "bumper lift" adapter thing, but like I said, I don't know if you can jack our trucks up via the bumper.

I would like a floor jack for the garage, but that would be hard to travel with in the truck all the time.

Not really, my little two ton floor jack fits nicely in my cab pack so it's not much of a nuissance to take w/ me in the truck.  Now if only the big lug wrench would fit in there ???

Hmm...  ok, well I will check it out.  I am going to 4WheelParts after work and see what they have, and to Autozone, they might have a floor jack.  I appreciate your help, Chevy4x4Trucks!

I'll let ya know what I decide.

Go to Farm and Fleet or a similar such store and get yourself a bottle jack.  They have much more capacity than any high lift jack and are a whole lot easier and safer to use IMO.  Check out the sizes they have, I'm sure they'll have one that will fit in your truck.

I forgot about bottle jacks, they work great too and are easier to carry around in your pickup.  I think (not 100% sure) but isn't the factory jack a bottle jack w/ just a metal bracing around it?  I can't remember if it is and I'm too lazy to look.

The factory jack is a scissor type jack.

A tip for bottle jacks.  Get a 1x8 or 1x6 and cut you out a square section to use as a larger base to set the jack on and keep it in the truck in case you need it.  If you need to use it in a sandy or soft soil area, it would be very handy.  That could actually be handy for almost any type of jack.
