2004 Gmc Sierra 5.3 Engine Light

i have a 2004 gmc sierra with a 5.3 it only has roughly 75,000 km on it.i am having rough idle with white smoke coming from tail pipe.I also smell gas sometimes coming from tail pipe.my truck wants to satll often and sometimes succeeds.. any thoughts

I forgot to mention no error codes come up when hooked up to diagnostic,I checked plug wires and plugs.I was thinking might be timing or injector problem.But i am not a mechanic so don't quote me on it..Really not sure

also i have recently pulled 2 plugs and they are full of black soot.When hooked up to diagnostics it says that all cylinders are misfiring mostly on drivers side.i am going back to have it hooked up again i'll report back soon.Any input would be appreciated...

White smoke could be head gasket....but you said the plugs are sooty...so thats not likely.

just fuel.I hooked it back up to scanner and it now says bank 1 sensor 1.Where is the o2 sensor?

In the exhaust. There will be a total of 4. 2 each side. 1 before the cats. 1 after the cats. Bank 1 will be on the side that cylinder #1 is on
