How Long?

Hey, my truck is the first new vehical that i have bought and I am using Mobil 1 synthetic 5W 30 like most of you guys are.

 

I was just wondering how long u guys will run it befor an oil change? I had my first one at 1600km's and then I noticed an oil leak from the filter at 3300km's so i had another oil change and that solved the problem. My third one was tody at 9300km's, I know I could go a bit longer but I have a road trip comeing.

 

Back to my question, I'm thinking that synthetic will last 8000km's or 5000 miles. Am I right?

Of course, the "Kilos" the clown deals with have nothing to do with distance.

I use my dash indicator to see whan my oil needs to be changed. usually between 10 and 15k (kilometers)

Over at Bobistheoilguy.com a test was done on a 5.3L Sierra. He used the OLM on the factory fill oil and ran it till it said 0% life left. Had the oil lab tested and the report showed it was time to change it, but it still had a buffer layer of active additive left. Something around 9K miles. Follow the OLM, running Synthetic it should be pretty conservative.
