Removing The Dash

Has anyone ever removed a dash? I think my fresh air/recirculation air actuator is bad. the door is stuck in the recirc position even though the button shows it in the fresh air position. I think the actuator is bad. I can see the actuator but I can't remove it. I assume the only way is to remove the dash first.

Any tips? Not sure if I should even tackle this or not.

Put the parking brake on.. Hold on the brake and then put it in 3rd gear.. and the dash will pop off.

Ya, along with everything else. Not the approach I wanted to take but I'll keep it in mind. You never know, I may get very fustrated.

My '04 has been having problems with the heater not going into defrost, ran across a post on the net that said with the truck off remove the HVAC fuse(mine is 10 amp) and leave out for 10 seconds then put back in, turn on truck and see if it reprograms the actuators, I guess if the actuator goes past a certain point it quits working. It worked on my truck, so you might give it a shot. Of course I found all this info after almost having the dash all tore apart :) .

He is not kidding here. You put it in 1st though I think. If you pull the bezel that runs along side the cluster and radio controls, it will pop right off. It's just clipped in. The actuator is under the dash I think though. Try going through the buttom rather then the top first though.

If you're going to be doing this type of work, the OEM Helms manuals are essential, IMO.
