so i have a 82 Jimmy sierra classic deluxe custom dont really know if thats all from the same truck but its on there now.

so it had a 6.2L diesel and now has a 454 with a 400 turbo tranny and a 750 carb 4BB on it, but only half way hooked up . she is having some problems idling

and has a steady tick going on inside the engine i have been told that its the valves and for the idling they said adjust the floats others said the screws on the side so anybody got any suggestions.

I'd fix that ticking before it takes your engine out. Pull the heads, Check the valves, rods lifters and springs to make sure they're not damaged too, while you're under there.

And if your lucky , it'll just need a slight valve lash adjustment..Which may take of the tick and the idle..but as stated above , probably will be worth the time just to check everything on the top end...

Check REAL GOOD for vacuum leaks.

Since the engine has been changed...there is a good possibility that there is a vacuum hose not connected properly.

As for the TICK... pull the valve covers and check to see if it is just one of the rocker arms that needs adjusting. You might get lucky.

A holley controls the idle air from the side screws.

BUT...if the float levels are not right, it will also mess it up.

Get a service manual for the truck...preferably a HELM manual..not chilton or haynes.
