95 Gmc 2500 Stalling And Electrical

I have a 95 gmc c2500 5.7tbi, 4l80, having electical issues. when i turn on turn signal the amp gauge dips every time the signal turns on, also when you turn on lights or heat the gauge dips. the other gauges seem to be twitching, especially the oil pressure gauge which drops to 0 at idle sometimes. when the truck is at idle at stop light you have to keep your foot on the gas to keep it from stalling. on the highway it seems to run fine but it seems to be short on power. i hope this is just a bad ground or corroded wire or bad altenator,HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Do the headlights look dim when on?

 

Sounds to me like the alternator or charging system is not working. Basically everything is running on the battery and the battery is running down.

 

Try charging your battery and see if everything works ok again.

 

Alternator belt still on?

 

Then pull your alternator and take it to an auto parts store and they can test it for you.

Yes ,check your cable connections.

May not be the alternator,but the voltage regulator. Given this is a '95 it most likely has some good mileage on it. I'd replace the alternator anyways.
