This week's rumor mill, or version of Winston Cup musical chairs: Stacy Compton will replace Buckshot Jones in the Petty Enterprises' No. 44 next season, Jerry Nadeau will go back to Melling Racing to fill Compton's seat, and Ward Burton will take over Nadeau's No. 25 for Hendrick Racing. "

 

Personally, I think if Petty Enterprises knew what they were doing they'd go for Ward Burton.  If he is leaving his current team why not take him he's a good proven driver and i like him alot more than Stacy Compton.  Of course, it may be hard to beat whatever deal Rick Hendrick offers him, but they should give it a shot.  At least then they could qualify more than one car in each race.

From the interviews I have seen with Ward Burton, I get the feeling he isn't at all pleased with the switch from Pontiac to Dodge.  They haven't run anywhere near the potential they have.  Possible a reason why he wouldn't want to go to Petty Enterprises.

I personally wouldn't want to run for any Rick Hendrick team unless it was the 24.  Call me crazy, but I don't think the 5 and 25 recieve much in the way of team work from their more successful teammates.  They are about the only multi-car organization that one team can win, and the others are non competitive.  Don't see that happening at DEI, RYR, or JGR.....

But it does happen in RCR.  But that is more because of driver error I think.  But until they get more than one good driver we will never know.
