'06 Silverado 4wd/electrical

Hi all, new to board!! Hope this is correct tech section to post this. I have an '06 Silverado with the VMax Package. I have recently had two issues pop up and was wanting some info on them.

Issue 1: service 4WD message, I recently changed the push button switch as I read 9 times out of 10 this is the problem. Well, it is still occurring. After searching quite a bit I came up with a possible 2nd cause and that is the wiring harness that goes to the transfer case. I figure I'd have to go to the dealer on this one. Has anyone heard of the wiring harness needing replacement, or is there anything else I can try myself?

Issue 2: a few lights on instrument panel have gone out, plus a couple of lights on the A/C control have gone out. I read on here the the whole instrument panel needs replacement to fix the lights, what about the A/C control area, does that whole assy have to be replaced also, and if so at what cost?

Lastly, since these seem to be electrical problems in nature, what are the chances that the problems are related and I should just bring it in for service?

For issue one I had a similar issue with my '04. Had to replace the some sort of transfer case module to fix the problem. Cost me a couple hundred at the dealer. They indicated that this was not uncomon. The one thing they told me over the phone was that it should be fixed asap as the transfer case could start shifting on its own. I would hate to see/or be driving, when the transfer case goes in to low range at 70mph. Anyway may not actualy happen but I was not willing to risk it. This could of just been a ploy by the dealer to get me in for service quicker. Anyway they fixed the problem quickly and I have not had any issue since.

I am not familar with your issue two. My HVAC controls just have a mind of thier own sometimes and I have to turn of the truck and restart to reset the HVAC. I have been told this is an actuator issue in the dash and I am not to the point where I am willing to have then rip my dash apart to fix. When it gets warmer I may try myself except I think there is some reprograming that needs to be done following the actuator repalacement.
