I am looking for some advise on a sub. I have a 99 ext. cab gmc full size (new body style). I am looking for a sub to put under the rear seat. Not sure what size will fit under it. I figured some of you fine peeps have already done this. :D

I'm a fan of Subway's 5 dollar foot-long. Plenty big enough, but doesn't take up a ton of space. I'd suggest a cooler if you're going to keep it under your rear seat though.

How much are you willing to spend?

Do you have a box picked out for your sub? Are you going to build it yourself?

What are you going to power this sub with (watts)?

What kinds of music do you listen to?

Do you want a sub that focused on sound quality or loudness?

I dont know what size. I dont have a box or anything, I listen to rock music. I want the sub for sound quality, Also I'm not sure about wattage. Thats what I'm trying to find out. What will fit what will sound good. As far as price 300.00-400.00 dollars maybe more.

I have two 12inch jl's in my truck and they are loud and there sound quality is great as well. I listen to everything though and have a remote knob for the bass so I can choose how much bass I want for each song and Its just a simple turn away. I Would suggest a ten or two tens. I like JL subs just because of the luck I've had with them. I've heard that rockford fostgate and kicker were also great brands.

I'd suggest you buy the most expensive amplifier you can afford first. You're more than likely going to pay $1 per watt for the amp (i.e - 200w amp = ~$200) Then go from there. I have a 300w x1 @ 2 Ohms Alpine amp that I've had for 12+ years and it's still kicking. I'm the second owner,(bought it from a buddy) and so far it's been installed in 9 cars. The worst part about it is the post screws are almost completely stripped  Anyhow my point is buy quality, cause it'll last you. Then after you've bought the amp you can figure out your subwoofer. I run all 300w to a single 10" JL Audio Driver. I bought a ready made MTX subwoofer box at CC before they went out of business. I installed it all temp underneath the back seat. My time is at a premium these days with a 11 month old at home, so I have to do stuff in stages over time. I may or may not use the box I bought by the time it's all said and done, but for now it works.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

I just finished my system and I have a PROBOX that came loaded with a 10" tuned and ported. I have a Fosgate 300.1 amp on it and it rocks. They have an engineeer there named Gerald who told me how to set the gain and HZ for my amp and many think I have two 12"s in it. 350.00 is what I paid ready to go.

I used to have a 99 just like yours, I had 2 jl 12's under the back seat in a pro box. It sounded awesome. I actually still have the box. It fit really well in that truck.
