How Level Will This Look

Recommended Posts

After researching on the forums for several days, I wanted a RC 2" leveling kit, but decided on cranking the stock torsion keys around 1.5" for free. Unsure if I can crank them higher or if I want to beings it will ride rougher, but anyway I also would really like to lift the rear for looks and later adding 285's. My question is how level do you think this will be if I crank up the T-bars 1.5" and put a 2" lift block or add a leaf in the rear. My trucks suspension is stock and has never been touched before, I really dont mind having a little rake beings it has some already, but dont want it to nose dive excessivly.

My old truck was a '99 Sierra as well and I crank the t-bars about 1 3/4" and threw an add-a-leaf in the back in I loved the way it looked.

thanks for your response, feel much more confident in doing this, how did it ride afterwards?

Interesting, im in the same situation with my 99 silverado nbs. It has 285 bfg AT on it now, but wanted to level it out and gain a little bit of clearance. I too have been reading and searching around, and decided to go the opposite route and get the RC 2" leveling kit. I was looking to go with the front/back with new shocks for 200, is that what you were going to do?

I'm not sure what the quality of the RC shocks are, but the rear block and keys are esentially the setup i'll run for now. I've read the the add a leaf might stiffen up the back end a little more, but serves a good purpose with loads and hauling. If you crank the front and put a 2" block in the rear, that should level you out pretty good.

I don't think theres anything wrong with cranking your stock bars, i'd just go with an aftermarket kit, but maybe thats just me

It rode a little stiffer than stock, but a truck shouldn't ride like a Cadillac.

I wasnt planning on getting the full RC get back when I wanted to get it, just the torsion keys. Longer shocks are recommended, but are not required; its more personal preference. Not that I'am saying anythings wrong with the RC kit, I just thought $100 for .25"-.50" of gain wasnt really worth it, and once you crank your keys 2" and over you will be adding more stress and wear to the front end and will ride alot rougher. Just my $0.02  Good luck though!

I cant speak for how it will look after installing an add a leaf, however, I installed the RC torsion keys on my 2005 Z71 about a year ago. Looks great and it sits real level, RC shocks are good I bought a set for the front for lifts of 1-2" to keep it from ridin to rough.
