Some Maintenance Questions

Im in college right now and can afford to have this stuff done at the dealer. so im going to do them on my own.

 

the truck is a 03 GM 1500HD

 

first thing i need some help on is how do i remove the fog lamp lense? there is a small reflective piece that has fallen off and just sitting in the bottom of the lense..

 

 

second is i am going to change the tranny fluid.

 

-is there any tips or tricks anyone can tell me that will make this process easier?

-how much ATP fluid do i need? (it has been overfilled since i bought the truck)

-what kind of fluid would everyone reccomend?

-and does anyone know a part number for the filter at a autozone or advanced autoparts?

Well some of this stuff will be in factory service manuals, but these cost $$.

 

Sometimes 3rd party service manuals will have this info. Libraries sometimes have 3rd party car repair manuals. Might check there.

 

Then maybe you could go to a dealer and explain you are a broke student. Maybe they would be nice and tell you a few things. Parts guys are usually helpful.

 

Then for parts numbers, I get parts at local parts stores and they can find the numbers.

the issue with me trusting my local stores is i had trouble when i was getting the tranny filter for my 97 Z71, they gave me three wrong filters before they gave me the right one, and when i got new spark plugs/wires/fuel filter they didnt believe me that a 1500HD exsists....
