Aeroforce Interceptor Scan Vs. Scangaugeii

Looking for feedback here...

I have a 2004 :dunno: Suburban 1500 and I would like to monitor more info while towing... mostly transmission temps, but fuel efficiency and others are of interest too. I like the look of the Interceptor, but for the price, the ScanGaugeII with the Blend Mount offered by MGT Motorsports looks like a good deal.

Anyone have experience with one or both and have any feedback prior to me making a decision???

Thanks.

I have the Scanguage. Works great, all I got it for was the trans temp. It has many other functions that I haven't even messed with. The only thing I've been having problems with is mounting it. It hard to find a good location that is easy to read and easy to reach if you want to change settings on the fly. They use a big RJ45 connector that really limits the mounting. But it's probably the easiest mod to hook up. Just plug and play.

Check out the BlendMount Kit from MGT Motorsports. For $45, the gauge mounts right above your rear view mirror. I would go with this set up if I buy the Scangauge.

How long have you had the gauge?

I had the Aeroforce Interceptor in my '02 YukonXL...mounted on the a-pillar, much like in this picture (this is C&A's Dad's....hope you don't mind Trey).

I gave it to a buddy of mine for his '01 Silverado as my current truck has the trans-temp in the DIC. If it didn't, I would have kept the Interceptor.

No problem Patrick. I had sent him a pic of the gauge and let him know how much I have enjoyed the Interceptor.

Either way, he will enjoy having the gauge providing the additional info. I just prefer the more traditional round style of the Interceptor.

I've had it for about six months now. Haven't had any issues. I saw the blend mount, but I didn't want it mounted way up by the mirror. Plus, thatsw where I have my radar detector mounted.

240 bucks vs 120? i understand it offers more features, except that they will work only if the scanners are available to feed ECM with data

of course, it is much cuter than scangauge.

i have my ugly box mounted right on top of my dashboard, towards the pillar A. i simply placed sticky velcro pieces on it. ran wire down to OBD2 outlet in a grove in the panel, can't even see it it. very easy to reach and "in your face" display. not distracting me from driving at all.

That's right where I ended up putting it also.

I have two interceptors, waaaaaaaaay better.

Care to elaborate as to why??? I'm interested in the reasons...

Go to their website and see all the different options the interceptor can read off of your truck.

Just for your info BlendMount has a combo mount that allows mounting a Valentine1 below the mirror and the Scangauge2 above the mirror. I have it on my 03 Mercury Marauder, it works out pretty good.

I have the same mount in my 08 Sierra but the scanguage2 interferes with the OnStar diagnostics so I just have the scanguage velcroed on the steering wheel housing when I want to use it. Rick

I had the ScanGuage with the BlendMount in my last truck, it worked well. I still use the ScanGuage in my Fit, but have no use for the BlendMount (with the extender cable) as it won't work with the Honda mirror.

I recently upgraded my ScanGuage to add the X-Guage function and I love it, but it's all about the gas mileage in the Fit, I monitor Average Economy per Tank, Average Economy per Trip, instant MPG and Cost per Mile! Amazing what all that data staring you in the face can do for your fuel economy!

I think this is one reason that Prius owners get good mileage - they have toys like that built in to the gauge cluster, and try to keep it in the green mode (or whatever). It is positive feedback to the driver - something that most vehicles don't give.
