Jimmy Johnson is on the pole for next Sunday's Daytona  500.

Kevin Harvick is on the outside of row 1.

All the rest of the positions will be decided on Thursday's twin 125 qualifying races.

Jimmie is certinatly making a name for himself in a hurry for him being a rookie.  He had been burning everyones speeds in the pratices and now he has the poll.  And Harvick with the outside, pretty good for this being their first Daytona 500.  Can't wait for the race next Sunday, it is going to be great.

Is anybody else here the least bit concerned by the fact that Jimmy Johnson is starting on the front row?  I guess after the first few laps when they get him out of the lead things will be alright, but if he gets impatient early on it could have some bad results....

Top Ford is Dale Jarrett qualifying 13th. I guess that shoots Hendrick and Childress's sandbagging theory all to ####. Fords need aero help. We'll see how they do in the draft tomorrow in the Bud Shootout.

That sounds familiar to me.  I remember when me and my dad went to Daytona in '93, Jeff Gordon's first race there.  Jef was starting 3rd for that race.  My wife was a Gordon fan, and me and my dad laughed and joked about how once the race started and he was out there mixing it  up "with the big boys" he would be in the back of the pack most of the day, if he didn't cause a big wreck first..  Well, he ran up front most of the dad and finished 5th.

Of course my wife was waiting up for us when we got home.  :(  :D

Jimmy won't have any help (at least at first) and he'll get shuffled back.

As far as the Ford camp the drivers say they race well, but can't run on their own...  I think Earnhardt proved that that is the key to success at restrictor plate tracks!!!
