I don't really agree with their end conclusion. I think the Chev was short-changed. Come on, it had the (and I will list):

 

--Most horsepower

--Lightest weight

--Fastest 0-60 mph time

--Fastest slalom time

--Shortest stopping distance

--2nd place finish towing uphill by only 4 seconds (out of 13 minutes)

--Best fuel economy!

--6 speed which they seemed to like

 

Apparently, they failed it cause:

 

--Think the dash is "monochromatic" and "dreary" (are you kidding me!! Did they even look at the ugliness of the tundra or f-150 dashes?)

--Integrated Ipod control (boo hoo, who cares?)

 

1) Doesn't have extendable tow mirrors

2) Rearview Camera

3) Rear seat entertainment

4) Rear slide window has to be an "extra option"

5) Doesn't have side curtain airbags

 

All of the above items 1-5 can be ordered if i'm not mistaken...why didn't they get a unit with those options if it was SO important to them!? What a bunch of hoey!

Don't agree... Thats my opinion.... I'd give the dodge a close second... but still not no. 1

I have no intention of getting rid of my truck, but I would like to take a new Ram out for a spin just so I can gauge the suspension for myself.

And the Dodge does better over the long haul up the long grade, where the horsepower and the axle ratio come into play. It clears the top in a virtual tie with the Tundra (12 minutes, 51 seconds)

I'd like to know how they got the stock truck to spin the tires like they did... Power brake maybe with stabltrak and traction control off

I agree with 2005LT, the Chevy SHOULD have gotten at least 2nd place. The test should be about PERFORMANCE only, not the color of the interior, or the size of the radio buttons...

 

I mean come on, when I first heard on the video that the Silverado failed because of a "dreary" interior (Correct me, but doesn't the LTZ come in 5 or so interiors???) and that the buttons where "to small" made it take 3rd place, I about had a heart attack. I think that Edmunds.com video is subjective. In their Sierra Denali video, they also complained that a sliding rear window should come "standard".

 

It should have been, according to the tests:

 

#4 - F-10

#3 - Tundra

#2 - Silverado

#1 - Ram

I, personally, would rate the Silverado as #1. Why? Because I like GM, and GM is the only mfg. I would buy a vehicle from. And I would take a Silverado over a Ram any day.

 

But, by saying that the Ram be 1, and Silvy be 2, I referring to the video. According to the tests that they performed, and their own personality of judgement, the Silverado should have been #2.

6.6 0-60 and 14.0 in the quarter isn't bad for a CrewCab 4x4.

 

The article is typical limpwristed "CAR GUY" slanted writer spleege. I get so tired of TRUCKS getting judged bu their car-like ride and handling. I prefer my truck to be a TRUCK. Who cares what their so called results are?

 

I think they should all go back to their day jobs over at Prius Weekly.

haha If I could drive a Mack Truck, and do all my daily things, I maybe go in a Mack hahaa, I like the big cars, whith a big chassis, and a big engine.. (I don't tow or haul)...

After reading this article I would have to agree with Edmunds. This is by far the best comparsion I have seen. I drove all these trucks back in February and they are all good trucks. However, the Dodge is a nice mean looking truck but I knew if I bought it I would never be able to get out of it if I were to sell it. The Ford is...dated and I am not sure why anyone would buy it. The Tundra is a damn good truck. It is solid and runs hard. You feel like your in a tough truck with the way that it rides. The truck does not get the best mileage but and the dash on the truck is not very well layed out. The Chevy/GMC gets better mileage but the suspension is a bit sloppy IMO and the truck has its fair share of rattles when compared to the Toyota.

 

I chose the Chevy because it was the truck that had the best return on investment and had better fuel mileage and a better 4x4 system than the other three. However I feel the truck interior needs some work to eliminate rattles and the suspension needs to be stiffened up a bit.
