95 2wd Chevy 1500 Engine And Trans Swap

So I have a 95 Silverado with 21x,xxx on it.

The 305 is pretty weak and the tranny is definitely about to go.

I figure what better time to get a screaming engine to drop in and a beefier trans.

Only problem is I dont know that much about what motors are even applicable in this situation, i know alot about japanese bikes but little about american trucks..

Please enlighten me what would be a good engine and trans to swap to with the main goal of this build being a street driveable truck that's going to be ridiculously fast. I think that that basically rules a 350 out, ive seen a few ppl saying they didnt get the speed/power they desired with that swap. Let me know what ya think.

c'mon someone knows something about swapping these.... I did a little research and so far I think a built ls-6 may fit the bill but as for a tranny im lost.. saw on the ls1 forum that people were hooking them up to the l60e's and considering mines bought to shoot the shit, i could either rebuild it or get a new different one, for example i saw an auto 6 speed gm trans but now i cant find it? Any somewhat knowledgable opinion is appreciated people!

Go check out the conversions/hybrids section at ls1tech.com and ask...they will be able to help you, and also there are many others that have done lsx motors into just about anything.

 

I would recommend a 4l80e or better for a truck...just to be safe.
