i know this subject has been discussed alot. but iam having trouble deciding which way to go. i have a 2004 silverado z71. iam going to put on bigger tires and wheels 16 by 9 285/75/16 i want to level the front end. so is it best to just by the new torsion keys and have installed? or just have the torsion bar cranked? thanks for any help or suggestions provided.......

Just crank the torsion bars with the current keys. There is no advantage to aftermarket keys, other than being able to crank higher, which isn't really an advantage at all. They do the EXACT same thing to the suspension geometry, one just lets you adjust further. The highest you can crank (with any kind of key), is about 1.5" over the stock height. Any higher than that, and not only will your ride really start to suffer, but you will wear through parts like ball joints, tie rod ends, and pitman and idler arms much faster than normal. Torsion keys are not a cheap lift, they are a cheap way to make your truck ride like ass, and wear out expensive front end components un-necessarily fast.

you will get mixed reviews here with this question. Most people will say to only crank the torsion bars about 1.5 inches and leave it at that to avoid suspension parts wearing out. Some will say they have there's cranked as much as they can and the ride is fine. I personally have keys on mine and cranked the torsion bars about 2 inches. I also got new shocks because of lift and it rides like stock. Talk to a couple shops in your area where you would get it done and see what they say.
