Knocking Noise?

Recommended Posts

I have an 09' Chevy crew cab. I have noticed a knocking noise that has gradually gotten worse. The noise is inside the pillar behind the passenger front seat. I have ruled out the doors being the problem but I would like to know what is inside that pillar, anyone?

Seat belt for rear passenger. Twist the clasp, it knocks on the plastic. Many of us have been through this with the crew cabs

I have the light gray seats and plastic back there...I put a piece of the foam "topper" tape on my plastic (it's the same color) to cushion the seat belt where it was knocking.

That's the thing, the clasp doesn't knock on the side pillar. I had my wife drive the truck while I sat in the back to listen for the noise. I my ear against the plastic part of the side pillar and found the knocking noise is inside that pillar.

Is there a way to take off the plastic on the pillar without damaging it?

Thanks for your replies.

I have to ask, why not take it back to the dealership and let them fix it? I would rather rule out any possibility for me jacking something up on a new vehicle and having to pay for the fix, then letting them cover it...

Is there any way to adjust the striker on the door or is it fixed?

Not seeing the GMT900, I am sure it still can be shimmed. Only in length not in any other direction. The door itself can be adjusted.

Being its an '09 Id let the dealer mess with the problem, before you void your warranty.
