Map Update Vs. Software Update - What's The Difference?

Howdy all -

 

I have a 2007 Denali and have been having the clock issues described in the 2nd TSB listed here.

 

Basically it says: Navigation Radio Clock and/or Clock Tab Do Not Appear or Disappears Intermittently (Update Navigation Radio with New Software). Nav Software Update Disc (P/N 25956121 -- software version 0B92) is needed.

 

So my question is, if I order the latest 4.0c mapping disc (P/N 25974486) will that disc contain the latest software update on it or is the software update disc something special that only contains the last software updates?

 

Assuming the software disc is something different, does anyone have an iso of the software disc they can share and save me a trip to the dealer?

I recently received my new disk, part number 25974486.

When I put it in the nav system...it came up with a message saying.."UPDATING SOFTWARE..PLEASE WAIT."

 

It took 3 or 4 minutes to update everything.

It added several new features that I really like.

I now have a clock, which I didn't have before, and the NEXT EXITS INFO junk that takes up half of the screen, can now be turned off and back on at will.

It also shows you a picture of the interchanges of the freeways that you are coming up to and shows you what lane you need to be in to get to your destination.

 

All in all...a very nice upgrade and all you really need is the new nav disk.

 

If you don't want to get the new disk...your dealer should have just the software update for you for free.
