2002 Silverado - Abs Light

Got the ABS light on - 2002 Silverado, x cab. Codes read the following...

C0221

222

223

225

226

227

all these code point to the left and right side speed sensor.

C0265 - EBCM relay circuit

C0281 - Brake switch circuit.

Now, i had a wheel bearing go bad a month ago. We changed the wheel bearing and then soon realized we changed the wrong one. No problem, we took the old wheel bearing and installed it on the other side, problem fixed...case closed

the ABS didn't show up until a few weeks later. I really dont think the speed sensors are the issue.. I think maybe something came loose. The reason I say this is because the day the problem started, I did drive down a real real bumping dirt road. Maybe something is loose now? I checked the speed sensors, all seem good and tight. I also cleaned the ground under the drivers door.

any new idea's ???????? Can the EBCM code cause the other codes? or vi versa?

Smitty,

Check all the wires going to the EBCM itself.

Check the wires under the dash going to the brake switch.

Do your brake lights still work?

Check them and see...

A wire or connection could have come loose after driving down the rough road.

thanks, yes, the brakes work great. Where is the break switch located?

Understand that the brakes work ok...I meant do the brake "LIGHTS" work?

DO the brake lights come on when you step on the brake pedal?

The brake light switch is up under the dash...and rests against the brake pedal when you are not stepping on the brakes.

Jim, just checked, all the brake lights are working as normal.

I just went through this 2 months ago on my dad's 2001 Silvy 2500 HD ext cab. We were getting the C0265 code intermittently so I contacted module masters and attempted to remove the module to send it in, but the screw heads had all rusted out so I wasn't able remove the unit. The local dealership was cool enough to remove/replace it for $40 with the use of a sawzaw - hacked the crap out of it.

Anyway, Module masters was great, sent us the replacement, dealer put it in, all is good again
