Touch Up Paint Colors

Hello again,

 

I need to do some touch uppainting on my 1989 sierra k 1500. I have also just bought a used cap that I'd like to paint to sort of closely resemble my truck. I have the dark blue and silver two tone paint job with some light blue accent striping.

 

Does anyone know of a maker that deals with these colors? They don't have to be perfect matches, I'm just doing some touchup. I would like the blue to be close when I paint the cap

You can get touchup paint from a GM dealer. Take your VIN (vehicle identification number) and your truck. The VIN should be on your vehicle registration.

 

Also they sell touchup paint at auto parts stores. Take your truck so you can see what looks the closest.

'89 is going to be too old to get from a GM dealer,You'll have to get it from an auto parts store,or get it specially mixed-up.

If I remember correctly, there is a decal attached to the lid of your glove-box that will have the paint code on it. I think it is the last code or it is actually listed separately. I will have to call my boy who has commendeered my 92 for it's location, I will follow up.

Your right Mike,It'll say "WA" then have 3 or 4 digits after it (Example: "WA8554" or "WA926L")

Actually found the sticker, it is on the "floor" of the glove-box, not on the lid. It is the last listed item, on the left you will see BC/CC (base coat-clear coat) and then the actual color code is spaced over about 3/4 of the way right. I had a picture, but it was too dark and not decipherable...

Don't know about an 89, but I've always had good luck with Paint Scratch.com.

When you find the color code, you can go to your local auto paint supply store and pick up a quart for the cap. Of course it will be about a $100 shopping stop, but well worth it for the finish product.
