Report On New Kyb Shocks And Www.kybshocks.com

So last week I asked if any of you have ever ordered from www.kybshocks.com and no one had any experience with them. Well I was very happy with their service, I ordered on a Sunday evening and Monday afternoon I recived a call from them wanting to confirm what car I was installing the shocks on to ensure I had ordered the correct shock. Their shipp was only $18 to ship UPS from CA to IL and I recived the shocks the in 5days.

 

As for the shock upgrade on my truck the factory shocks were compleatly shot at only 55,000 miles. After removing the stock shocks and pushed them all in to see how they rebounded. One of the front shocks did not come back without pulling it and the two rear shocks rebound at very different rates.

 

The install went well, I did change one thing. The new front shocks came with new upper and lower bushings that I ended up not using them. They were alot small than the factory ones (see my attached photos) and I didn't like how much the new bushing was compressing under load.

Geez. I can see why you used the OEM bushings. I just did a set of Bilstein HD shocks on my truck yesterday and the replacement bushings, although slightly smaller, were nothing like that.

The OEM lower bushing plate also has the build in space so you know exactly how compressed the bushings should be as you can see from the KYB ones installed I could of been too tight, but I was trying to get the bolt to torque to the correct setting. I guess the KYB's are aftermarket and the have to supply a "universal" type bushing. If I knew I was going to have to reuse them I wold of bough some new ones, but at the point today when I decided I was going to use the OEM style ones I had a truck with no wheels on it and all the stock shocks off and just one replacement one on.
