Unlock Radio

Sorry for double posting, but I posted the following in the compact truck section with no responses. Hope someone here can help.

I replaced the original battery in my 29,000 mile 2000 S-10 and I can't locate the code I put in for the radio. I searched the forum here and found no real help and from Google found some info. I followed the instructions and called 1 800 537 5140 but the code # given from the Google search was not acceptable to who ever I called. Can anyone help with this simple problem?? Thanks in advance!

I am not sure if i am reading your post right. You say you got a number from Google and gave it to the lady on the phone?? I don't have the instructions in front of me, but I thought you got the code from the radio. Then phone the number and give it to them. Then they give you the unlock code. I will see if I can find the directions because I will have to do the same thing soon for a 2000 silverado..

Sorry for any confusion. From Google I got info on how it SHOULD work BUT it didn't.

Turn ignition ON radio displays LOC

hold preseds 2 & 3 for 6 seconds

LOC becomes a 3 digit number to write down

press AM/FM

Another 3 digit number to write down after the first 3 digit number

Call 1 800 537 5140

Press 1# "invalid code try again" is heard

All is OK per instructions to this point

Press 139010# and at this point you are supposed to enter the 6 digit number mentioned above. It is at this point I get "invalid code - too many tries (or something similar) and disconnected.

Can't get beyond this point to hear a 4 digit number which will be entered in the radio to unlock or disable the Theft Loc system.

I think it will work if I had a correct code instead of the 139010 number given in Google. The radio only allows 8 tries before going from LOC to INOP mode.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you own a vehicle, you may find that the audio systems are equipped with an Anti-theft or radio code feature that requires a special "security code" to unlock your radio. This radio unlock code is not required for normal operations. It's purpose is to deter a potential thief from removing the stereo.

I got the same problem as I took the radio out of my old truck and sold it with an after market one. I tried to put this in my other vehicle and it only locks when the key is in the run position, not the accessory position. I have the VIN to my old truck but not the code as I didnt think of getting it when I sold it. Is that post listed above joe johnson the way to go to get the unlock code?

I was looking online and mine is and rds unit I think, 04 to 04 year truck it went into
