4wd Question

So my 4wd makes a loud groan/grinding when making even soft turns. It didnt do it when i put it on a lift and steered left and right while in drive. It also didnt do it while driving and making full turns in 2 inches of snow.

I know not to drive in 4wd on dry pavement, but it was never that bad before.

My question is. Do i just assume its the usual gm groan/grind since it doesnt do it on snow or on a lift, or do i get it looked at?

I find that when I'm driving slowly, on pavement and turning (evening slightly) my 97 groans like yours. This is how I know when someone has accidently push the 4x4 button. The first time this happened was after it was detailed and I didn't know what the problem was. Once I figured it out, I've heard it since. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
