2002 Silverado problem

I have a 2002 Silverado that has a kind of weird thing going on. While driving everything is normal then in the massage center the security light comes on, service 4wd, battery, and the fuel gauge drops and the low fuel light comes on, and the airbag light comes on. I scanned the bcm, pcm, air bag, and inst cluster. Under bcm I had B2961, U1255, U1301, U1016. Now reading some info in alldata I diagnosed the B2961 first and within 3 steps came up "replace bcm". I just want to know if there can be anything to check that may have caused it to go bad. I know it has an aftermarket remote start, which has been in the vehicle for some time, so I'm not sure if that could be the cause of failure.

Second, I was thinking of installing a used bcm and do the key relearn to see if there are any other problems.

Let me know what you think, or if you need any other info.

Thanks,

Mike

Ok, had the original BCM reflashed and everything was good for a couple weeks. Now, the problem is back, and not right away, you have to drive a little and all the different messages start popping up.

Here is a list of symptoms and problems:

Security light come on

Battery light comes on

Airbag light comes on

sometimes Service 4WD light comes on

Fuel gauge goes down and Low fuel light comes on

Codes set in:

PCM: P0463, P1626,P1631,U1026,U1064,U1301 (all history codes)

BCM: B2617,B2647,B2961,U1255,U1301,U1016 (history codes)

Airbag: U1041(current code),U1000,U1301,U1016,U1041,U1096,U1064 (history codes)

IPC: U1064,U1016,U1026,U1088 (history codes)

And 1 thing to note is the scanner loses communication with all modules when the lights all start coming on. But yet the truck will run and drive just fine???? That is what really throws me through a loop. Another thing to note is that someone eliminated the ABS module completely, there is just a harness hanging there where there used to be an ABS unit. I do know that has been gone long before all these other problems started.

Hopefully someone can at least point me in the right direction, like maybe a bad common ground or power loss somewhere.

Thanks,

Mike
