2010 Sierra Headlamp Replacement

Anybody have any tricks or tips for replacing the left hand side low beam light bulb? (other than remove the washer fluid container or the lens). It is almost impossible to get a hand on the bulb to twist it in or out. It's bad enough that you have to remove the air intake box to do the right side bulbs but the left side is blocked by the washer fluid container. It a bother to have to remove just to change a light bulb.

If its anything like my 2007 (GMT-900) 1/2 ton I just unscrewed the one screw holding the washer fluid its the one on top, and just left it hanging. Then with lots of patience and time I used my fingers to unscrew the bulb, it was really hard to do, and it hurt my fingers, I had to really wedge em' to get it done, its so painful to do I spent the time to do the passenger side while I was at it. I was actually so pissed I emailed GM and they actually called me back, anyways long story short its a bitch to do and the easy way would be to remove the lense. (which takes alot of work and broken plastic clips if you don't know the procedure)

Careful not to snap off the plastic piece that holds the plug connected to the bulb.

I used my fingers to push down (or was it pull up, depends how its orientated, righty tighty lefty loosey) on it I think to get it unscrewed.

Mine burnt out at 62000kms and the bumper-to-bumper ended at 60,000kms go figure.

I use a long pair of needle nose pliers and VERY gently twist the bulb loose and then pull it out with your fingers. Other then that you would have to remove the headlight assembly off of the truck to make it easier.

There are no tricks to replacing bulbs on a Sierra. I must warn you not to watch the YouTube videos that instruct you to take apart the front end of the truck just to change a bulb. Those morons should not be allowed to feed themselves with metal utensils, and should purchase their tools from Hasbro or Playskool. I changed the driver's side bulb in 20 minutes. It took that long, because it's the first time I've ever changed it. Use a 10 mm socket or wrench to remove the bolt holding the windshield washer bottle (you may have to force this to the side to get your hand to the bulb holder). Make note of the position of the bulb holder body (3 0'clock). I used 10" needle nose pliers to turn the bulb holder counter clockwise to remove. Remove the old bulb, install the new one making sure every thing is snapped together. Turn the headlights on to test before re-assembly. Use the needle nose pliers to insert the bulb into the lens, and turn to 3 o'clock. Put the bolt back in to secure the washer bottle. Done.

I have changed the passenger side bulb, but it has been awhile. The air filter box needs to be removed, and it will take almost 30 minutes, but it's better than taking apart the front end of the truck, as a moron would.
