Interior door molding removal.

Hey there.  I half-heartedly tried to remove the door panel from my drivers side door to get at the speakers and I ran into a bit of resistance.

Thought I'd ask before ripping the thing to shreds :)

Can someone tell me the correct way to remove the door panel.

Thanks

I have pics at home of most of the steps involved. I will try and post them tomorrow. It's pretty straightforward.

If your Burb is like my Tahoe, you need to remove the panel with the power window and lock switches in it and disconnect all the harnesses.  Using a flat blade, carefully pry up from the side.  It's attached with two clips.

Remove the triangular plastic cover where the mirror mounts. Two clips hold it in place.

Remove the manual door lock switch by prying from the front edge.

Just inside where the switch panel was you will find a 7mm hex head screw.  Remove that.  Remove the 7mm hex head screw at the left rear inside the door pull area.

There's several plastic hooks that hold the panel to the door.  Using the door pull, carefully pull up on the whole panel and STOP once it releases from the door.   Hold the door panel close to the door, reach inside and disconnect the tweeter speaker wire and disconnect the courtesy light by popping it out of the door and pulling the lamp out of the lens housing.

The panel should now be free.

When you reinstall, make sure all the hooks engage before pushing the panel back into place.  Remember to reconnect the tweeter and courtesy light wires.  It's easier to get the door panel in place and hang the courtesy light wire through the light hole, hook up the tweeter, then slide the panel in palce, then attach the lens housing and pop it back into place.
