3" Body Lift...Now What Tires?

I'm doing a 3" body lift on my 2001 black z71 reg cab...

How big of tires would fill the wheel wells but not over fill them?

Thanks

I had a 3" body lift on my Silverado with 33"x12.5x16.5 bfgoodrich m/t on 16.5x9.75 AE 589's and they rubbed. HOWEVER, a 285/75R16 I have heard does not rub on a 16x8 rim. It all depends on the backspacing of the rim, really, but still. That is my experience.

And by the way, the 33"s filled the wheel well VERY nicely!

Good luck!

I'm buying aftermarket rims...I would really like the 315s...

But I don't want them to stick out...Maybe just a bit at the most...

What rims and backspacing would I need with 315's to still not rub?

thx

He's running the factory rims, with tons of backspacing, like 5.5" if i remember right (probably don't however) So that causes his tires to be fully inside the fenderwell. THe amount of stick-outed-ness depends on the backspacing of the rim more than the width of the tire.

Those are sweet tires. I've got 33x12.50s on the Wrangler. If they will fit w/ cranking and minimal rubbing, I'd say go for 'em.

BTW - how bad did they rub?

trckn4life - the tires stick out about 1/2 - 3/4 inch. I also have the fender flares which make it look like they don't stick out much. I'll take some better pictures so you can see em.

chvythndr - they rubbed pretty bad on a full turn of the wheel, started pulling the plastic well lining off the body in reverse! Of course, I didn't have my torsion bars cranked at all, they were in the stock position, so I could have done that to gain another inch or 2 of clearance, but I didn't want to mess with the ride.

I agree with Wandell. A 305 is the same as a 33. Right now I have a stock 99 Tahoe LT with 285/75-16's on Outlaw II's. NO LIFT and no rub. Can you belive it. And the t bars aren't even cranked. They are close as heck but no rub. I even thought that my susp was sagging so I have Rancho RS 5000's on the way. I would suggest 16x10 wheels for anything larger than 285's. 16x8 are perfect for 285's.

A 285/75-16 is a 33x11.50-16, a 305/70-16 is a 33x12.50-16. I would suggest a 305/70-16 on a 16x10 inch wheel.

wandell...will the 305x70's be taller or shorter than a 33"x12.5"
