Let's Talk Harleys

So, I have only only owned large bore sport bikes up until now, my last one being a 1200cc Ninja

I have gone back and forth, do I go I talian, British, another Jap bike? I was just never quite at the Harley stage in my life yet, even though I knew that day would arrive.

Perhaps it has.

I am looking at 2009 models of a Dyna Super Glide Custom with SEVERAL Screamin' Eagle/HD factory mods OR a similarly modded Dyna Fat Bob.

I have always liked the Dyna line, and have ridden them all except the Fat Bob with it's smaller front wheel.

Any input from you late model Harley owners on either of these, and on mods like the 103cc big bore kit?

Your info is appreciated

You know how it goes, Tobias. When you've owned something once, you want to go with something different in the future

Haven't owned one myself, but I want to get one soon.

The Dyna Glides are badass looking bikes but are a little out of my price range

I've mainly been looking at Sportster 1200 and some Soft Tails myself.

The Dynas are definitely nice. They handle worlds better than the Softails. Big bore kit is definitely an improvement. If i ever get off my ass, my 'train will be getting the big bore kit, intake, pipes and tune. (intake, exhaust, tune...hrm...why does that sound familiar to me??? ;))

With your liter bike experience, have you given any thought to the VRSCs? They're an interesting hybrid of cruiser and sport bike. Obviously with a much heavier slant to cruiser, but they handle MUCH better, and have a power curve more in line with other bikes. I've been toying with the idea of selling the night train and getting a nightrod special.

I did look at them, and rode a 'Rod when they came out. I just can't warm up to them for some reason. I might take another look. Also, I want to be able to take mama on longer rides, that is something I should have mentioned.

I didn't like the first couple years either. The new ones are definitely improved. My solution for the longer rides with the old lady is to get her her own 883 if i go to the vrod, so i don't have that issue. The Dyna's definitely a better choice with that in mind.

Yes, the Road King is also another one I am admiring.

The dealer said that the 103 kit will still be under factory warranty, but the next size (110??) would not be. Have you heard this?

I love the HDs but I still dislike their spotty reliability. Improved but not quite there yet. Our local HD shop is very busy. It's hard to plop down 30 grand on a bike but man are they cool.
