  1. I think it's even worse than the RAM barn doors. Considering that there's a trailer attached. so long j-ten-ner
  2. Toilet paper is sold out. What's next?
  3. Went to a grocery store yesterday and saw the empty shelves. I was so embarrassed for the people in my community, it's not even funny. It says that the Canadians consider themselves polite and helpful and take care of each other. What a disappointment. That's what I thought. But wait... When I saw the news last night, a woman said to the reporter, "Of course she would share some goods with people in need." So that's what it's about! Now I get it. so long j-ten-ner
  4. Maybe the transition from v6 to v4 is less noticeable to begin with, than the transition from v8 to v4. Maybe they've changed the programming between 2013 and 2015. Maybe my truck, or yours, is one of those exceptions. I think what makes the whole thing even worse, is when you live in a hilly area. so long j-ten-ner
  5. Reason #1 for disabling AFM was for my own comfort. Couldn't stand the transition between V4 and V8. Especially in combination with the 6 speed. so long j-ten-ner
  6. I guess you haven't been around on this forum for very long? 43 km shy of 200,000km on my truck as of today. AFM disabled since day one. Oil consumption is getting less over time. No idea why. No knocking lifter or any other drive train related problems so far ( I don't expect any 'til 250,000km, just my expectations of a modern vehicle). So, yes, if you don't worry too much about fuel economy, disable the DOD and shive on. so long j-ten-ner
  7. It would be really hard to mess up an electric truck. Almost no moving parts anymore. @ BigBadSierra https://www.theverge.com/2020/2/10/21131754/nikola-badger-hydrogen-electric-pickup-truck-specs-photos-battery-range I'd love to see a combination like that. It might be easy to install hydrogen "pumps" at regular gas stations . so long j-ten-ner
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkLYY1XMVbY What bothers me in particular is the category "hitch compatibility". Sure, the RAM barn door design looks better in that case, because there's no trailer attached. I think that with most trailers, one wouldn't be able to use the barn door, because it would hit the jack. They criticized the Ford and GMC because the steps couldn't be used with a trailer attached. Well, that's why GM trucks have very handy corner steps in the bumper. After all, I think that the GMC with the corner steps is the best setup when it comes to having easy access to the bed when towing a trailer. so long j-ten-ner
  9. It will change quickly as soon as the power providers figure out how to get a piece of the pie. It'll be the same as it was (is) with gas. so long j-ten-ner
  10. I wouldn't mind the autostop feature if there was an integrated starter/generator, like in some Mercedes models. No starter as we know it anymore. And it can be used for a little boost for acceleration. Pretty much like the RAM E-torque system. Just better ? so long j-ten-ner EDIT: ...but first I'd like to see self levelling headlights in our trucks......or maybe both...lol
  11. The 3.0 even beats BMW and Mercedes...to some degree ? so long j-ten-ner
  12. I liked the 3.0 from the beginning just because it's a straight six. But hearing you guys being happy and even impressed by the engine, and watching the reviews online, I can't wait for the end of the year. I want this. And regarding the drive belt for the oil pump, have you tried to change the turbo on the F350 diesel? You have to take off the cab to do it. At least that's what I've heard. so long j-ten-ner
  13. I doubt that. It's not like that the 3.0 is the first diesel ever invented. so long j-ten-ner
  14. Intelligence is not measured by engine size. so long j-ten-ner
  15. I haven't driven a 6.2 or 4.3. I expect the 6.2 to be faster than my 315 HP 5.3. It would be sad if it wasn't. But I really don't understand the misleading comments about the 5.3 being a dog. Same for the 4.3. I have to see a 4.3 equipped truck stranded on the merge lane because he couldn't make it. No luck so far. My 5.3 pulls everything I need. 3,500 lbs lab saw trailer, 5,000 lbs generator, 7,600 lbs utility trailer or my boat. I never felt the NEED for more power. It would be nice to have more power, but I don't care that my truck is a few seconds slower. Those two or three seconds will not rectify the expensive 6.2. Even a 4.3 would do the job. The only reason that I chose a V8 over a V6 is... well, it's a German thing...lol so long j-ten-ner
  16. It's even more troubling that the 4.3 reaches peak torque at 39,000 rpm ? lol so long j-ten-ner
  17. I think that the discussion is still on topic. You have to take the cost of a "forever" truck into account. so long j-ten-ner
  18. It's amazing what some people think their cars/trucks cost them. A colleague answered my question, what he spends on his truck driving 160km every day to work and back home with: "...about 20 bucks on fuel...". He didn't believe me when I told him that my truck cost me 0.32 cents per km. And my math is just a rough estimate. All the cost attached to my truck divided by the km driven in a year. So, my truck with 193,000km on the clock almost hits 62K in 6 years of ownership. No, I haven't taken the double and triple tax into account. so long j-ten-ner
  19. Column shifter is great while leaning out the window and shifting back and forth to navigate trailers into tight spots. I don't have to look for the shifter. It's right where my hand is. Try that with a flimsy rotary dial or even worse push buttons. so long j-ten-ner
  20. Oh shit. You have no idea what you just triggered. so long j-ten-ner
  21. I truly hope that they would at least stick with the column shifter. Shouldn't be a problem because the computer doesn't care what the "switch" looks like. Rotary dial or lever doesn't matter. The column shifter is the most ergonomic solution in a truck. At least for me. so long j-ten-ner
  22. I even started cooking with butter again. Just like grandma ? so long j-ten-ner
  23. No, I think it's the guys who still have their underwear ironed by mom. so long j-ten-ner
  24. The video actually proves that the G80 does an excellent job. It took the RAM 19-ish seconds (8:24 - 8:43) to get moving again and they had to back the truck up because he couldn't make the turn. The Sierra started moving after 7 seconds (10:30 - 10:37) and made the turn look easy. Clear winner. In my book. so long j-ten-ner
  25. Well, after watching this video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWaVmmO7LZo ...I have to say , that the Rivian is the more appealing E-truck so far. Geez, it looks even better than the F150. Although, I wish that the designers of the Rivian go out for a beer and discuss the front end design again. I was a little surprised about the cost of ownership. I expected a lower number, given that an electric vehicle has way less moving parts, lubricants and are build in the 21st century. Anyway, I think that the comment of one of the YouTube users sums up what I think of the design of the Cybertruck. Heath Stallcup 1 day ago This is the end result of a Delorean dry humping the leg of a Hummer. so long j-ten-ner
