  1. 2000 Silverado 5.3L Regular Cab Z71 Hey guys, my fan clutch has been roaring like its running most the time. So I replaced it with the OEM GM part. Didn't seem to help anything.. but I just left it alone for a while. Fast-forward a year, I decided to replace it again with a different (non-oem) fan clutch. Also replaced the thermostat with a stock part. Same issue, maybe a little less roaring..but still seems way too much? Some notes, the truck never runs hot, always around 195-200 according to the gauge... and the same as all the other Silverado's I have owned. The fan clutch is active and roaring right from cold start. This doesn't make sense, but I think I do remember reading this may be "by design" for the first few min after cold start. Any ideas? Maybe replace the T stat with a 165? Not sure if that would help since the fan runs right from cold start anyway. Oh .. and when I ordered the new fan clutch it did have some options for "trailing package" ...which I do have Z82 RPO. But I don't tow anything. All the fans listed on Rock Auto were "heavy-duty" or "severe duty" fans. I just got the basic heavy duty.
  2. I agree with the software glitch. The dealer won't / can't help you until TSB.. there is a 99% chance the problem won't happen while they have the truck.
  3. Happened to me one time about a month ago, not long after the latest software update. 7K miles on the truck. Is anyone still having the issue?
  4. Wow... happened to me for the 1st time yesterday on my 2022 refresh. This is a bad issue in so many ways. If it happens again, I'm trading the truck.
  5. my 2019 was like that. I never mentioned it to the dealer...risk vs reward .. they always seem to tear something else up in the process of trying to fix. Plus I only keep my trucks for a few years.
  6. 2000 Silverado - have an issue with heater. It seems to work pretty "decent" most the time, but never has seemed really hot like my other trucks. Then today it went to cold... I played around with the climate temp turn knob...no change. Turned off the HVAC for a few min while driving.. then turned back on and had decent heat for a little while. Some notes.. 1. I felt the heater hoses... the one closest the engine is hot...I can barley hold my hand to it. The other hose is warm but not hot. 2. Truck warms up to 195 as normal 3. The blend door is working fine.. it switches from floor, defrost, etc, etc just like it should 4. Nothing has changed on the truck as for new parts, etc..
  7. Are you using Google Maps via the build in app on the truck... or via your phone/android auto?
  8. Get a mobile dent man to take of dent first .. then DR Colorchip. Think the beds are all allum now, but I wouldn't worry about rust either way.
  9. I still don't full understand all this data stuff either. I can tell you this.. once my 1 month free data plan expired, it told me I needed to pay $15 per month to have "app access" I did this because I prefer to play YouTube music directly through the truck OS.. rather than my though my phone/android auto. The sound quality/bit rate is much better. I couldn't figure out how my old 2019 BOSE stereo sounded much better... then I started trying things and discovered this. Any yes, my G maps work fine...it always runs on my main screen.
  10. Meanwhile someone else today on the F-150 forum is done with Ford products.. it's a constant back and forth.
  11. Yes, there is a sub with all BOSE. The AT4x and Denali Ultimate get some more speakers. Someone had posted radio info from GM on this not long ago, can't find it. As for the sound quality, I also came from a 2019 BOSE to the new 2022 refresh BOSE. I agree, the 2019 was better. A few things... make sure if you are listening via your bluetooth phone, and android auto be sure you adjust the EQ on your phone. Also, I use YouTube music for everything. I found that listening to YouTube music direct from the build in truck app OS, vs YouTube music via my phone (android auto) the sound quality is much better going directly with the truck OS YouTube music.
  12. I got one for my 22 refresh.. I'm not using it, may sell it if you don't find one...
  13. Every GM truck I have had since 2014 develops the leaf spring "creaking" at slow speeds, uneven ground. I think 3-4 trucks total. Thankfully the new 2022 Refresh I got doesn't do it.. yet... it only has 1K miles.
  14. at this point, wait. Inventory will start to build up fast...and rebates will show up. sh$t is about to come to a crawl in this economy. As for orders, just read the forum... guys crying every day about how long it takes.. 6-8 months+, etc.. So unless you are real patient .. I wouldn't do that.
  15. I would be more concerned about the wheels and tires. Seems most non-Z71 HC trucks come with the 22in wheels and street tires. I would defiantly get rid of those if you are heading to the woods..
  16. Same thing I did last month. Did the nationwide search and found the spec I wanted, which was a very rare spec. RST, Z71, Sunroof, 6.2 with the light color leather. Plus this truck wasn't missing half the chips like a lot of trucks. Only the parking sensor was a later retrofit. Drove my 2019 up there (10 hours one way) and traded in... I'm too impatient to do a special order and waiting 8 months. I would rather take a few days and just be done with it. Wasn't all bad for me though as I got to visit with some family that lived near the dealer.

  18. "Led trailer lights still flicker when the truck is turned off" Just FYI - my 2019 and my new 2022 Refresh both do this when the truck is locked with trailer hooked up. It's some kind of feedback....may have to do with the alarm. I know on my 2019 if you unhooked the trailer (while the truck was locked) the alarm would sound.. which is pretty cool. I assume the 2022 also has this feature. May try to turn it off in the IO setting and see if it still flickers.
  19. I traded a 2019 with 32K for a new 2022 Refresh. My 2019 was a great truck, no issues. The new 2022 has the 6.2 - been great for the first 1k miles. The interior is a major upgrade. I think the lifter issues have been mostly fixed for the 2022 trucks built since April time frame? Anyway.. I wouldn't be too concerned with that. There are millions of these trucks on the road and people generally only come on forums to complain about issues... so keep that in perspective..
  20. wireless when using android auto
  21. I had a 2019 with BOSE, just got a 2022 Refresh with BOSE. I noticed the 2022 BOSE didn't sound as good as the old truck. With some tinkering, I found a few things. I listen to music via Pandora, or YouTube music app. I noticed in the new 2022 if I listen to music via Android Auto (whether it's Pandora, YouTube music, etc) the sound quality isn't as good vs listening straight from the app built into the truck. I adjusted the EQ settings on my phone, and also changed the app setting to play music at "High" quality. ...no change. Any suggestions? I do like the listening to music straight from the YouTube music app built into the truck, but this costs $15 per month for "app access" plan. I would rather listen to music via android auto, and the YouTube music app on my phone.. or Pandora, etc. But again, the sound quality is noticeably worse . Anyone else notice this?
  22. Power to you guys that go through the order process, especially if you are in any way impatient like me. Just curious.. why do you special order? Are you ordering a VERY rare spec? With the constant price increases, seems like it would be better to search nationally and just go get it. I trade in every 2-3 years.. and my trucks are generally the harder spec to find. But I seem to always find them. Last month I wanted a 6.2 RST, Z71 Refresh.. but with the lighter interior color (80% of them are the black) Anyway.. I found one.. price/trade-in value was good, so I drove 9 hours to get it and just be done with it. Made a little trip out of it... got to visit some family on the way home.
  23. ok, so it's mainly just the beeping.. which is annoying as hell ....used to always turn off everytime in my 2019. Another question.. will/does my forward collision still work? It is checked in the screen... I assume this will auto brake when I get close to something?
  24. Can someone explain what exactly is the front and rear park assist alert does? is this for "beeping" you get when straight line forward and reserve obstacles? I have a 2022 Refresh that also has the $50 credit for this. However, I don't know exactly what it does. I have the button, but it does nothing. All the camera work fine.. I get the "beeping" in reserve, but I think that is only the side alert.
