  1. Just took mine in for the same thing. (service safety restraint system) I have had the pickup 3 weeks. 2021. Sierra SLT. Bought new. Had around 500 miles on it. Now have 700. Was out of town when it first went off. Very sporadic. Contacted service department. Took pickup in today. Replacing air bag and harness. Service writer, known him since he was born, said there was a recall or a SB but I have not found it yet.
  2. I just went through this. Will try to keep it short. Bought a new 2021 Silverado 2500HD Carhartt Editon LTZ in January. Has just about every bell and whistle and diesel to boot. Thing is a monster. Was looking at upgrading to a 5th wheel sometime next year. Have a TT travel trailer that is 5400 dry. So lets say about 6000 with everything including 2/3 full clean water tank. I did have a 2020 Silverado TB LT with the 5.3 and 10 speed. Did not like the way it pulled my trailer, hence, got the 2500HD. But just purchased a 2021 GMC Sierra SLT 4x4. Prices went crazy on the 5th wheels. Plus decided I want to retire sooner mainly due to my company is a gov. contractor so we were forced to get the jab. I have 9 months till I can retire so was not feasable to quit my job. I will pull about 10 times a year. No more than 2 hrs away at the most. Won't be spending more than 3 or 4 days max camping at a time. Wife can't retire for another 8 years. Do the pros and cons. It was nice to be able to pull just about anything I want. Was nice to get alot of compliments on the pickup. Turned alot of heads. I was a real cool dude driving around in a big ass diesel pickup. Had Fuel Blitz wheels and bigger tires. Has the surround cameras which were great when parking or pulling the trailer. Its black. It was a real pain to keep even half way clean. We live in a rural area. However, realized some things. Took an acre to turn around. Nearly got stuck in a few places cause it was almost too big to fit. Had a big payment that would keep me from being able to get it paid off sooner rather than later, I will be able to pay off this half ton off in about 2 1/2 years vs 5 Half ton rides much better, and I steering is waaaaaaaay better. (which I already knew the HD rode rough and steering sucked. Pulled to the right 90% of the time even after re-alignment.) I got the 6.2 with max tow package so have that little extra for towing. Was hard to find a pickup with this package. Insurance is a hair cheaper. Easier to get in and out for me and the wife, plus in and out of the bed to get the kayaks in the rack. Fits under my carport and in garage while the HD didn't. Too long. And its not black. The realist in me won over. No regrets. If I was doing more pulling or had a true need for the HD I would have kept it but this half tone will do everything I need it to do plus some. pics below of former ride and my current ride. OP. you do what best feels right. What works best for you and your future. Best of luck, keep us informed.
  3. Looks awesome. Is that a standard bed?
  4. I've kept my wheels, even though I have tried selling(almost giving them away) but since they are the butt ugliest wheels out there I imagine I will wind up keeping them. May separate them out one at a time to be used as spares for folks that have that wheel. Pic below is what I have kept. These came off my 20 while the ones off my 21 had gray paint vs. black. But ya'll get the gist.
  5. I'll second that. Looks real good on the GMC HD...Yes they are big. My wife can't see in the back of mine. What color is the interior?
  6. That would work. It has a plastic screw out on each end and thought they would tighten up but didn't do a good job. The 4 screws in the middle are metal and affix to pre-existing holes and tightens up well.
  7. Thanks. Make sure you have someone to help you unless your 7 ft tall. It is a little loose on the edges though. I may have to drill a couple of holes for more metal screws. Other than that looks pretty good. Ride looks good. Congrats. My first diesel as well. Love it.
  8. I put a bug deflector on so can't see it any more...
  9. 2021 Carhartt edition LTZ. Just about everything except the Technology package. Upgraded wheels Fuel Blitz 20" and Yokohama LT295/65/20 Geolandar M/T G003 tires.
  10. Aw yea, black is beautiful baby. Nice... Congrats...
  11. Mr. Chips. Tires are Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 295/65/20 on Fuel Blitz. Don't remember the offset. They do rub on the drivers side on front. Havn't gotten around to taking care of that yet. Dunn: They gave me around 47000 for my trade. I paid around 49000 for it. I kept my wheels and tires, as u can see they are on my black truck, as well as my tool box and nerf bars. Will be selling the nerf bars and maybe the tool box so I included that in the savings.
  12. Hello Rob Eagle. I like it ALOT. Not sure why. But I am enjoying this pickup leaps and bounds more than the gasser. Could be because of the power the Duramax gives out or the MUCH better headlights, or maybe all the extra cool stuff that is on it even though my gasser had some real nice options including leather. I think it was a very good choice to upgrade. Now I know I will have what ever power I need in the future to upgrade to what ever size travel trailer I want, which is in our future once I retire in about 4 years. Thanks all.
  13. Broke down and traded my 2020 2500 LT gasser for this beast, LTZ Carhartt with diesel. Lost about $1500 on the trade. Went from red to black. Long story short. Crappy lights on the LT. Even changing out the halogens to LED bulbs didn't help much. I can't see very good at night so need good lights. I like the red one but love this Carhartt edition. Should have just got the diesel when I bought the red one.
  14. My 20 Chevy LT gasser had one on all 4 door handles. The new 2021 LTZ I just picked up has them only on the front door handles. I will miss them on the back...
  15. Just picked it up a few hrs. ago. Should have bought the High Country I test drove when I got the gasser. But this LTZ is great too. Oh well. Dealership worked me a pretty fair deal on trade back to them. Not the best but definately not the worst either. Very pleased with the pickup on the drive home. Do ya'll keep bottles of the DEF around or go and get when u get down to a certain amount in the tank? Thanks kylant for the warning on the Platinum. Semper Fi!
  16. Thanks for your inputs.
  17. About to bite the bullet and trade my 2020 2500LT gasser for a 2021 Carhart edition 2500 with diesel. This will be my first diesel vehicle and does it matter what DEF is used. I see some for 6 bucks on up for the 2.5. Long story short. Will go test drive it tomorrow. My existing pickup pulls to the right and I have had it re-aligned. Have had a few problems with it since buying new 4 months ago. And the headlights suck as I do not see very well at night. Previous pickup had LED's and then Chevy throws halogen bulbs in a LT. Even tried the LED bulbs and still not near as good as my previous pickup lights. Would like to know about the DEF before I go look at the pickup tomorrow morning. Thanks
  18. I have the bug deflector, sorry not a close up so u can't see it the best. Don't try and put it on when it is windy and by yourself.
  19. Yes, that's what the service guy said. Hope it is an easy fix and not a bigger problem.
  20. Picked up a new 2020 2500HD LT gasser last Saturday. 10 miles on OD. Now at 164. Lost brakes and power steering yesterday coming up to a stop sign on a major highway. Thank goodness I was coming from my house and slow speed. Limped back to the house and texted my salesman then contacted the service department. They immediately appolegized for the situation and dispatched a flatbed to come and get the get my pickup. First time in all my new car buying experience that I have had this serious of a problem with a new vehicle. I have purchased over 30 + new vehicles in my lifetime. They will be looking at it first thing Monday morning so lets hope its just booster failure. Still, blows to have this type of problem with a new vehicle. Just glad I wasn't going highway speed coming up on slow traffic or a traffic light. I would not have been able to stop. I might not be here right now if that had occurred. Dealership has been A+ so far. Just wanted to share. BTW, you can stop the vehicle but you better be slamming the brake pedal to the floor and it still takes a bit to get it to stop. And with steering, the slower you go the harder it is to turn. Been along time since I have driven a vehicle without power steering.
  21. Hey Justin1983. Rims grooved on back side so no worry there. Did not pay too much attention to how much the studs stuck out past the spacers but weren't much. No other mod at all. Had to go get a bigger torque wrench though. I stayed with factory tires. I really like how the 1.5 gives me the look I was after. I think 2" would be just a little too much, but that is my opinion for what I like. I went with Cayote due to immediate availability and price plus good reviews. Nearly went with BORA though. Also good review, just had a lead time of about 3 weeks and quite a bit more in price. These are 2 places I found the spacers. I got my Coyote from American Trucks. BORA link https://www.motorsport-tech.com/special/truck/chevy_s Coyote link https://www.americantrucks.com/coyote-15-inch-billet-aluminum-hubcentric-6-lug-wheel-spacers-6550-6550h-c-silverado1500.html
  22. 1.5" Coyote spacers. No lug trimming due too grooves already machined into the 18" rims
  23. kableguy, yes, fit without trimming, wheels have grooves on the back...
  24. Graphics LBK hood vinyl, 1.5" wheel spacers, black lettering and Z71 badge on tailgate.
  25. NCD, That looks real good. I just put 1.5" spacers on my trail boss and with the tires sticking out I may get some of these flares. Will drive it a little while with offset before purchasing. But I like how the RC pocket flares are not overbearing and overwhelming like some I have seen. Just enough... Good choice.
