Awesome. This is exactly where my head is on the vibration. I see your in socal as well, what shop did you go to for the driveshaft? I was going to take mine to inland empire driveline. One thing though is that I am lifted with roughly 34s and I have the steal 2 piece shaft. Many people say its only the 1 piece aluminum shaft doing it which it can't be. Also my vibration started at 8000 miles on the truck and also after I installed the lift. The rear of the truck was never lifted so the factory angles stayed intact. The dealer is not an option for me as we know what they would say as soon as they look at the truck. After i check my driveshaft I wanted to have the axles checked out and also the rear locker. While driving during the vibration I can't help but to think of the locker or assembly is possibly engaging power to both sides of the rear axle. That to me could definitely be causing a vibration.

How are your results after the new driveshaft was installed?

Any word on the transmission shop confirming the torque converter?

Very interesting! My first impressions when I first had the vibration start. Only variables i have is that when the truck was new it didn't vibrate. Very soon after within 100 miles of lifting it with bigger tires it started. I assumed pinion angle first and then wheel balance and so on... So Im wondering if this issue has a way of becoming a problem over time. Meaning the adjustment gets out of spec on its own. Ive been wanting to re-gear to 3.73 to compensate for the 34" tires and i might have them go over everything and see if anything else is out of spec. Another thought i have is the locker malfunctioning at higher speeds. Who knows

Anyone try getting their 2 piece driveshaft aligned? I understand the single shaft causing vibration, but the exact same vibration with a 2 piece shaft?
-
Also might i ask if you have the 6 speed or the 8 speed transmission?
-
Thank you for your input! I have the same problem as you and it is inconsistent at certain speeds over 70. Sometimes its there an sometimes its not or its more or less. I have efi live tuning and i had the problem before i did any tuning. I got my tune and flashed it and the problem seemed to have gotten worse which was puzzling to me. After 5000 miles or so it went back down to a minimal vibration. I updated the tune i had on the truck to a less sensitive throttle response. As soon as i hit 70 after the flash the vibration was horrible! So Im at a point where i don't only believe the torque converter is at fault but I believe it is something in the way it locks up at certain speeds.

What a bummer!

So i read through most of this post and can not find anyone stating a release date, I like many of you have been waiting for the 6112 for our trucks. I called bilstein directly and was told they would not be released till mid 2017. Sorry if it was in this thread already.

Here is mine. Posted in the Main picture thread the other day so here is so more. CST spindle lift 4.5" front and 1" rear. Stock shocks for now. Method NV wheels with 285/75/17 -
So sad. I remember my 06 duramax had the Flint MI sticker in the door. I went to a 13 ram with a cummins after that and every single part on that truck said made in mexico. Got rid of that pile for my 16 1500 and now it even has mexico all over it. So sad.

Here is an option as well. Probably the one I'm going with. Of course it looks like you will lose your tow hooks but i don't have any anyways...- 76 replies

Post Pics of Your 2014+
rhino68 replied to jomuehlbauer's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Yeah because I'm having issues with these lower control arms. So i need to put my stock lower control arms back on and the stock spindles since they do not have the correct lift spindle to fit for the new stamped steel and aluminum arms. But i just found out they will be coming out with the correct spindles soon so i will not have to lower it back to stock or level ride height. Which is awesome news! Keep the stock geometry and gain 4" lift. -

Heres my 16 with 4.5" lift with cst spindles and 1" rear lift. 285/75/17. Absolutely love this truck but unfortunately I will be lowering it back down to stock with just the bilstien leveling shocks and smaller tires. -
So is there anyone here with a crew cab and 6.5' standard bed 2wd? this is the only model with the 2 piece drive shaft. Reson i ask is that it is a much different setup from a single piece driveshaft and it still has the vibration. Not as bad as some videos posted but its there.
-
I understand, I didn't say it did! I am simply telling the forum what i changed on MY truck and now i have the shake. I do not have a shake anything like what most people are stating its more of a vibration and sound. When my truck was stock i had no shake or vibration. After the lift I do. So i know i didn't bend the driveshaft in the process. Also i have the 2 piece drive shaft which is a completely different setup and its steel not aluminum like yours.
-
Yes you are correct. Thats the same information I have gathered as well. My reason for changing back to the stock LCA and spindles is because these aftermarket LCA do not sit right in the frame mounts. I need to get under and re measure but i believe the length of the 2 frame mounted points are also wider than the 14 and 15 LCA's. Not positive though. Also i thought the aluminum front suspension was dedicated to the 4wd platforms? Sorry to get off topic but just stating the changes that GM has made to the 16s suspension which might contribute to the shake I'll probably be going with mazzulla UCA's.

I have read through most of this thread over the last few days. I have a 16 2wd crew cab 6.5' bed 5.3 with 3.42 gearing also have a 2 piece driveshaft because of my extended wheel base. When my truck was stock i had 0 vibration issues. I have since then added 3.5" lift spindles with a 1" coil spacer. 4.5" total lift. I should not that to fit the lift spindle i had to replace the lower A arms with an aftermarket a arm that had the same size ball joint as the 14s and 15s. The 16s have whats called a stamped steel A arm setup with larger ball joints then the 14 and 15. Replaced the factory 1" block with a 2" block with a 4 degree angle. Running 285/75/17 tires approx. 34". After the install immediately i had vibration issues. Took it to my installer and they acknowledged it had vibrations at hard acceleration and highway speeds. They flipped the blocks around changing the pinion angle and shimmed the center bearing. At this point the hard acceleration vibration went away but now i had a deceleration vibration and the same highway speed vibration. I decided not to go back to that shop because they haven't called me back in 3 weeks with a solution. I measured pinion angles and purchased a 2" lift block with a 2 degree angle and removed the center bearing shims. That fixed acceleration and deceleration vibration but the highway speed 65+ mph still existed. Pinion and output shaft angles were matched at this point so you got me.... Finally i decided to return the rear suspension back to its stock geometry. Removed the 2" block and replaced it with the factory 1" block. I still remain with a slight vibration at 65mph and up. I dont have a fix and I'm just going to keep adjusting components myself until i fix it. My next options are to replace the aftermarket spindles and a arms with the stock ones and do a coilover setup with an upper a arm. Reason i post this information is because i didn't have a problem before i changed the pinion angle and now i do. I'm just trying to help narrow down a problem with what could be multiple issues. It is worthy to note that the '16s do come with larger lower ball joints than the 14s and 15s. Maybe there is something there contributing to the way the truck goes down the highway.
