  1. This dot is what you want to cover, not the back sensor. Unless this dot is just a mirage, it’s the glare sensor.
  2. Wait, so there’s no glare sensor on the mirror side, and it just dims whenever it’s dark? Seems unsafe and cut rate. You want to see as much as possible when there isn’t glare present. Older GM mirrors have the ambient light sensor in the front to enable the auto-dim, and a glare sensor on the mirror side to trigger the dimming when glare is present. To beat the system you’d cover the glare sensor, not the ambient light sensor.
  3. I buy off the lot. You just lose too many positions of strength when you order one. I mean, they know it's exactly what ya want and they are the only dealer who has it. Much prefer to find reasons to go a little cold on trucks, get quotes from other dealers, and at least give the illusion I'm gonna walk. Best deal I ever got was on my 2016. Bought it in August of 16 when it had been on the lot since March and they were in bad way with it. Wasn't the truck of my dreams but I liked it just fine and did great with it when it was time to move on. As far as the window, there's very few HDs with reports of leaks. It could be because the HD structure is more robust and doesn't allow the cab flex as much. It could also just be because they are less popular; made in fewer numbers and for one less model year than the 1500.
  4. Unorthodox, but after we’ve printed trillions of dollars I feel pretty good having some of my money in a truck rather than the bank.
  5. Interesting. My E2 has a wing but it looks different. 10/2018 build. Goes without saying that it leaks. ?
  6. There’s some HD take offs on eBay for $2850 and $3200. Those aren’t the same as the 1500 tailgates though. Also a dented black one that someone dropped on their hitch for $2400. I dunno, maybe I’m the only one who thinks this is stupidly expensive to attempt. No telling that the thing even plugs in and works either. I’m sure the BCM is involved in its operation.
  7. I thought someone here priced out the parts new and it’s like a $3000 tailgate plus paint. Probably why it hasn’t been done. Cheaper to trade the truck.
  8. You can see that the raised dash carries over flat and out of frame to the right of the cluster. Means no dumb stick-on tablet screen and something closer to the Denali SUV.
  9. Eh, I’ve tested 0-60 a bunch in each mode. There’s no appreciable difference in times, get little-to-no wheel spin in either mode. For street fun especially, I just like auto. Can steer without fear, lol.
  10. Those are my thoughts too, especially since some of the new gizmos are late availability anyway. I don’t need to be the guy with the first 2022. I like my truck just fine, and I know all these new systems are gonna have major annoying bugs. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Not worth it.
  11. Yup. If ya can’t feed it, don’t breed it. Or something like that. ? I don’t see much point in buying a performance engine and then running junk fuel through it. 11.5:1 compression. I don’t care how much DI helps, it’s going to be pulling timing on 87. And it does.
  12. https://www.gm-trucks.com/2022-gmc-sierra-will-get-super-cruise-new-interior/?fbclid=IwAR3DnSp33kPJorOOjjebjhlf8aFrjANfCT_rK1WahvpS0SnWDnAPqQccsLI ??
  13. Auto is perfect for light snow/ sloppy roads with mixed snow cover. I rarely even use 4 high. Auto does allow some brief slip at first and you can still spin a bit, but you’ll never really get stuck unless it’s some nasty stuff. Auto 4x4 is also my default drag race / gap the car alongside of me at a stoplight mode.
  14. The internet kinda negates the need for these shows, at least as far as product unveiling goes. Ram got a hell of a lot of attention with the TRX online reveal so the concept works. Worked for GM too, with the C8 and Hummer releases.
  15. It’s probably not a huge difference but it stands to reason that when in “auto” there is more drag (and wear). The axle shafts and front driveshaft are spinning in auto, everything is engaged and waiting for torque from the transfer case clutch.
  16. Can’t beat the entertainment of the 6.2. But it is a thirsty MOFO. Currently at a lifetime economy of 14.1 MPG. Gonna see how gas prices are with the new leadership. Might wind up in a 3.0 by this time next year if things are looking bad. Unless you find a deal you can’t turn down, you might wanna wait too. Won’t be long before the 2022 refresh is seen and it might put a hold on your plans.
  17. If you plan the keep the truck awhile, I would probably spend more. The RC is 409 stainless, so it’ll look like crap in a hurry and eventually rot out. Especially if you’re in the salt. The other brands in discussion use 304 which is a much more durable and better looking product. You get what you pay for.
  18. Yeah, it would pop up like once a week on mine. My steering column was replaced under warranty for an unrelated loose shifter and I never saw the message again. But there’s actually a TSB and update for it now: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10172289-9999.pdf
  19. I’ve found eBay’s restrictions are automated and seemingly arbitrary. If I had to guess, the system saw you place bids on several listings, eventually winning two, and it assumed you were a bot or a hacked account. As gat0r said, the change of address may also have something to do with that. I’m sure they have to keep a close eye on these console listings, it’s open season for scams...both buyer and seller initiated. Keep an open browser window reloaded with the newest listings, wait for one to come up that is B.I.N. at a “reasonable” price from a reputable seller, and checkout as a guest. I wouldn’t bother creating a new account and attempting to bid on a whole bunch more. You don’t need to get flagged again. And time is not on your side. As desperation goes up, so do the prices. Shipping carriers are also starting to bog down quite a bit. Getting one in transit to you by the end of this week is probably a good idea. Source: I’m a full time eBay power seller of over 13 years.
  20. Raptors are all 4WD. They have a dedicated a flat tow mode, you can even activate it from the driver’s information center. Doesn’t really get any simpler. Guessing this guy didn’t make use of it, the trans had a meltdown and caught the rest of that mess on fire.
  21. What engine? Can’t say I’ve ever had a lick of drone with my 6.2/10.
  22. The GMPP doesn’t have any resonators, maybe he meant muffler. Although I don’t think the muffler is that big either, not compared to the stock system. I believe the GMPP is identical to the Borla Touring, so it is not as aggressive as the S-Type.
  23. Honestly I think the safe bets are Corsa, Borla and GM Performance (made by Borla). Have heard people bitching about drone with every other system. Really depends on what type of sound you’re after though. I like my GM Performance. It’s a little rowdy on cold starts but calms down nice. No drone either. I would say it’s on the mild end of the spectrum overall.
  24. The squeak and the leak is all that bugs me anymore. If you asked me at any time during the first 3 months of 2019, I would definitely tell you it was the worst, least dependable vehicle I’ve ever owned. The glitches were almost unbearable. Trailer disconnected alerts literally every 5 seconds in cold weather, tons of infotainment bugs, “service steering column lock”, brake loss, flashing check engine lights. These were really a leapfrog design, it may have been rushed to market, and it definitely took a lot of refining. But I think they are damn good now. And they will unbeatable in 2022 after further refinements.
  25. Intentional design so it doesn’t leave a puddle in your garage.
