  1. I still believe 100% of these will leak at some point. Especially the 2019s. Prove me wrong.
  2. There is no actual fix. First attempt is to caulk it with Kent seam sealer. Best you can hope for is that they don’t make a huge mess in the process. Sometimes that “repair” lasts for awhile, sometimes not. My sealant job was good for a year. Just leaving it with the slight dribble it recently developed. Usually takes a couple days to get done because there is a cure time before they can leak test and give you the truck back.
  3. I would say just wait and give things a chance. The engine’s already replaced. Not much else major to go wrong. Electronic bugs are everywhere and unavoidable. Look, I hated my 2019 at times. I’ve been to the shop more times than I can count. Given Malibus and Buick Encores as loaners. It’s frustrating but now that it’s sorted out, it’s a great vehicle I enjoy driving. Why the hell would I want to start the process over again in what amounts to the same truck? In the end, the 2021 is the same ****** in the same wrapper and not likely to be 100% perfect either. Refresh inbound. Trading a 20 for a 21 makes no sense unless the thing is actually lemon law-ed and you’re made whole.
  4. 6.2 trucks get the two speed transfer case no matter what.
  5. If I remember right, you couldn’t get Z71 on the HDs until the GMT-900 trucks. You can always get 4x4 without Z71, but as of now, no Z71 without 4x4. Probably better that way.
  6. Actually a fair question. But “AWD” wouldn’t really seem right either. The single speed transfer case is kinda in between the two, maybe? I like having 4 low, although I admit I hardly use it and could probably live without it.
  7. 84152501 is what my 19 came with. Can’t imagine they changed them for 21 but I have no way of knowing. Just don’t spend that much. $85 eBay for a set of four. Still more than the $50 option but a lot less than that dealer price.
  8. This is totally wrong. The 10 speed is a completely different transmission co-developed by Ford and GM. It shares nothing in common with the 6 speed. My opinion, for drivability and creature comforts, the LT would be the better choice. The Custom Trail Boss is really a work truck interior which is fine if you don’t mind the spartan, completely drab look. I think the LT interior is much nicer with better contrasting finishes and materials, and much better equipped. LTs have a bigger infotainment screen, nicer gauge cluster, etc. Most will also have keyless go, remote start, heated seats and steering wheel, power seat, dual zone climate, etc. I feel that DFM is a far smoother system than AFM. You really can’t tell when it’s dropping cylinders unless you have aftermarket exhaust. I think it’s a great set up and they did make some changes for 2019 which should improve durability long term. In my opinion, the 5.3 8 speed is a very nice driving combo even though I did buy a 6.2 10 speed. If economy and purchase price is a concern, don’t overlook the 2.7 turbo either. Impossible to know the long term outlook on either the 2.7 or 3.0 diesel since both are new, clean sheet engine designs. But both return much better fuel economy numbers than the V8s.
  9. Pack of 4 sensors are now a separate $50 option. They are shipped loose with the truck if that option is ordered.
  10. See more fear mongering from the people who insist nobody should have the dealer change their oil because they will screw it up. Not saying that doesn’t happen. But the average vehicle on an American road is 12 years old. And fewer than 30% are owner maintained. Probably fewer than 10% realistically. So it’s not rational to think that techs at service facilities are constantly making errors that have any impact on engine life. In the past couple years I’ve had warranty work done to replace my oil cooler lines, reprogram my brakes, replace my steering column. I chose not to worry about them performing a simple oil change when I’ve got no choice but to trust them with much more consequential services. And it’s their ass if they screw it up anyway.
  11. Dealers have bulk oil tanks. Unless you are bringing them your own oil (who does that?), they aren’t pouring it out of quart bottles all day and leaving a few drops in each one. Imagine the waste.
  12. The 2019s didn’t get ACC, so unfortunately I am without. But I liked how it worked on my GMC Terrain loaner. At this point I am just holding out for SuperCruise. That’s the real step forward in reducing driver fatigue. It’s only supported on a limited stretch of roads right now, but it will be expanded rapidly as GM offers it in more than just Cadillacs.
  13. Well, it’s just inevitable at this point. And if GM didn’t start developing EVs, there wouldn’t be a GM to buy from in 10 years. FCA is going to be in a real bad way when fuel prices rise and public demand shifts.
  14. In the end it’s hard to make a monetary argument one way or the other when it comes to DIY vs dealer oil changes. IMO. Too many variables. Some dealers are clearly overpriced. And on the other end of the spectrum, lots of people who DIY use their own favorite brands and it winds up costing way more than a dealer service. Also can’t discount what your free time is worth to you. If you can work an extra hour instead, and make double what you’d save by DIY-ing, that makes sense. If you enjoy changing your own oil, or distrust a dealer, that’s another factor too. I just don’t think the financial aspect is always the biggest motive.
  15. I have “Priority” packages floating around that haven’t updated tracking since December 26th. For my business, I moved the rest of my shipping to UPS (at some cost increase) just to avoid the constant customer issues. I simply cannot afford to have $500 packages lost for weeks at a time and people getting pissy with me over it. While Christmas may have tipped them over the edge, I had delivery issues throughout all of 2020 with USPS. Every other carrier has been fine thankfully. If it’s important, use anyone but the mail.
  16. That dealer price is insane. Hope those are Canadian dollars. I always pay $74.95 + tax for Dexos oil change and tire rotation. Can’t do it myself for that price, especially if one values their time against doing a DIY tire rotation in the garage without a hoist. No thanks. Nothing against DIY, I used to do it and still do it on my other vehicles. But a daily driven truck under warranty, I’ll leave to the dealer to do and save the time and effort.
  17. The GM CAI adds basically nothing. The exhaust is rated for +13hp and +8tq so anyone can do the math there. The intake is supposedly made by K&N, but it still uses a dry filter so there isn’t as much of a flow increase as you’d see with one of the aftermarket boxes. Overall I’m happy GM offers these parts and I think they are quite good if bought “right”, either on sale through GM, with bonus points, or from a third party vendor. I have the exhaust and love it. It cost me no more than a Borla or Corsa and it’s a perfect sound level for a truck I tow with. Went with the Roto-Fab intake but I can see why people get the GM too. Hard to argue with a factory backed, dealer installed mod.
  18. I had two on my 19. From what I’ve seen, all of the 19s had two. 2020 and up it seems random on whether you get one or two. Could be a supplier thing, I don’t know.
  19. Just about every dealer I’ve been to offers a different service. Given that, it’s impossible to know what particular product yours is offering and those questions can only be answered by them. “Nano protection” is a relatively generic term applied to a variety of different consumer and professional coatings. Personally, I would (and always do) pass on these heavily marked up services. I’ll stop short of calling them snake oil but some are pretty close to that. And there are plenty of DIY ceramic options that work great now.
  20. They do have the 10L90 that handles 650tq in the ZL1. Seems like it would slot in nicely between the half ton 10 speed and the “Allison”. But it all comes down to money. And that there’s no requirement to report fuel economy the HD segment, thus no reason to increase efficiency.
  21. Seems like it would be a no-brainer to give the AT4 the option. But GM has always been very stingy with the 6.2 in the SUVs. You couldn’t even get it at all in the Tahoe until 2018.
  22. I really like the look of the Yukon AT4. But knocking on the door of $70k and you still only get the 5.3. Go Denali or go home. ?
  23. Better than the old one. I hated the Kia oval. Too much like Ford. I know there was a connection between the two companies years ago.
  24. Some say Tesla is 5 years ahead of other manufacturers when you factor in their battery supply chain, supercharger network, full self driving, brand recognition in the EV sector, etc. All I know is, it’s way overvalued if you just look at the fundamentals. Most would never buy a stock with P/E ratio anywhere near as ridiculous as Tesla’s, but everyone is today. Could be a bunch of ignorant Robinhood traders putting their stimulus into anything, and they “heard Tesla is good”. Or it could be a lot of people betting on the future of EVs, and betting on Elon in general. I could see a split at $1200, which it’ll hit in a week or two if it carries on at this rate.
  25. New political leadership hostile to oil = stronger focus in EV sector. Tesla trading at new highs essentially every day, and their market cap is higher than the nine leading automakers combined. I don’t want an electric vehicle at the moment, but it does seem like GM is making sound business moves to follow the future money in tech and “clean” energy. Don’t really care for the new logo but don’t care about it either. They don’t put it on the fenders anymore.
