  1. Nice, I’m sure it’s a lot of fun. Does seem a bit optimistic to trade a Chevy for a Bimmer and expect better reliability...but stranger things have happened I guess. ?
  2. I disable it almost all of the time as a part of my pre-flight checklist. Some exceptions though. If I’m pulling up to the drive thru I re-enable it before stopping. Makes it easier to hear the clerk and saves some idle time too when things are slow. Play it right and you can get two auto-stops out of it. One at the speaker box and one at the window. Also if I’m coming up to one of the notorious 5 minute stoplights I’ll re-enable. That’s about it though. Most of the time it’s off. I read somewhere that the break even for fuel consumption is 30 seconds. That is, if it shuts off for less than that amount of time, it’s actually wasting more fuel during restart than it saved by shutting off. Most stop signs and lights are shorter than 30 seconds so there’s that.
  3. You can search inventory on the Chevy site and filter by “special exterior color” to see what’s out there. There are minimum quantities required before they produce them, and it doesn’t seem like many dealers want to mess with it. Also should note that the little chin straps in front come unpainted on special order colors and that looks kinda bad.
  4. Leave the little straps on the new shocks while bolting them on...you won’t even need to compress them much by hand. Just takes small adjustments to line them up from there.
  5. I’m satisfied with the ride using the 5100s only in back. It did correct some of the tail happy behavior over broken roads that the 2019s are notorious for. Hasn’t completely eliminated it, but there was a noticeable difference over one stretch of road I drive every day.
  6. https://www.shopchevyparts.com/electronics/2020-silverado-1500-garage-door-opener-rearview-mirror-package-buttons-auto-dimming/84350235-p-92308823.html They also sell one without the auto-dim. Seems like a slick package.
  7. Funny, I did bed rail letters for the second time today. Quick PSA, do NOT buy the OEM GM letters in silver like the ones in the link. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2019-20-Chevy-Silverado-CHEVROLET-Bed-Rail-Cap-Rigid-Plastic-Letters-Set-SILVER-/163978115123 They faded to an ugly yellowish tan after less than a year. Was not thrilled to have to pick them off one by one and remove all the tape residue in this heat. Just put some chrome amazon ones on. 5 bucks cheaper than the GM and better quality as far as I can tell. Live and learn.
  8. Wouldn’t surprise me. I didn’t have Ranchos but one of my OEM NHT shocks was leaking after less than 15k. Both went in the trash bin for 5100s, good riddance.
  9. Did you miss the REBUY part? You know, as in buy again... For someone who got pissy when others chimed in on his stupid gas oil mix thread, you’ve had no problem responding three times in a thread requesting opinions from owners of a truck you’ve never driven.
  10. The dealer will not install the Trail Boss lift on an NHT truck if that’s the question.
  11. The Bose and non-Bose are the same size, 6.5”. If you order from Crutchfield they include the adapter rings and wiring plugs free.
  12. No real rhyme or reason. Crew cab production is split between Ft. Wayne, IN and Silao, MX. Believe double cabs are still 100% USA.
  13. Took my dealer around 2.5hrs to install the exhaust. Seemed like longer than I would expect, but they stuck to the 1hr labor quote when it came time to pay at least. Guessing that 1hr is what’s in the book. Either way, as a lazy person I don’t regret having them do it.
  14. Eh, you can get out the door in a Ram Limited in the upper 50s. It’ll probably turn to dust, but the interior at least looks expensive. Ram also gets HUD and camera rearview mirror for 2021...so whatever cards GM did have to play just got counterfeited.
  15. I have the GMPP exhaust. Sounds great in the day-to-day driving, but is a bit loud under heavy load. Pulling something that big might get annoying.
  16. Lots of us running Amp power steps. I’ve been very happy with mine. Easy enough to DIY if you have 3 or 4 hours to kill. And they are about as invisible as steps get.
  17. Make sure they are in the right set of holes. If they are too far back they bang the body mount brace on the frame.
  18. If you do get a 6.2 the next time around, the exhaust won’t transfer over, diameter is different. But I still think you’re making the right call. Exhaust makes the biggest difference in the whole experience. Adds a small bit of power but the sound is the best. The X4 is decent but it’s the one thing I may NOT transfer over to the 2022 I’ve already traded in for mentally. May go to the Retrax.
  19. Best package you can get IMO. Best ride of the 3 normal (non-Denali/ non factory lifted) suspensions, best performance. Economy does seem to take a bit of a hit. My lifetime is 14.2. On the highway, expect 19-20. But it pulls like beast. My smaller 3500 pound trailer you can drive like literally nothing is there...pass, merge, gap the Camry next to you, whatever. Even heavily loaded there is no lack of grunt or control and it doesn’t squat near as much as base suspension or Z71.
  20. The 8 speed is still going to be the standard transmission in like half the trims, it’s not like they are ditching it and trying to dump off the remaining units. AAM used to make the driveshafts, not sure if they still do. Either way when you depend on a supplier and they can’t deliver, not much you can do with all the COVID crap putting everyone way behind. No way in hell I’d take delivery of one of them switcharoo trucks but realistically not many people buy 5.3 Denalis or HCs anyway. You’re talking what, a few hundred trucks at most? Seems kinda overblown.
  21. The thing that helps Ford is that they run the 10 speed in just about everything. Simplifies production with their suppliers and how they order parts. GM, in all their wisdom has 3 different transmissions. If they underestimated the demand for the 10 speed trucks...they could very well be in a position where they do not have enough 10 speed driveshafts, but plenty of 8 speed shafts. In that case, the first ones to get a downgrade would be those that made do with the 8 speed last year. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still their fault, but I just don’t think they are trying to stick it to anyone...in this instance. I guess we will see if things go back to normal for 2021 like they said they will.
  22. I’d say you did just fine, especially now looking at today’s market standards. Things are real tight and if you love the truck, even better. The people who are really gonna hurt (unless they have more money than brains) are the ones who will pay close to sticker for a 2020 or a 2021 in the next year.
  23. As I understand it, it was a production constraint through the end of the 2020 model year...which is just about over anyway. The supply issue is not the trans itself, but something in the driveline paired with the 10 speed. I would assume the driveshaft is a different length than the 8 speed truck, so maybe that is it. I like beating up on GM for their cheapness as much as anyone but I don’t think this was intentional.
  24. I mostly like the Denali, but in no way does it live up to it’s image as of now. If you can wait a year, wait. Otherwise do your best to avoid sitting in a 2021 Yukon SLE that’s 20k cheaper and nicer in just about every way. Talk about a kick in the balls.
  25. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/17/health/coronavirus-herd-immunity.html I swear there was a guy here who just said this wasn’t possible...but now even the NYT is getting curious. More redemption for the people who have been screaming this for months. Maybe the libs are finally catching on after having destroyed all the stuff they care about over nothing.
