  1. The transmission pan is $13.97 on Amazon, you could buy a weld on bung and get it done while your truck is still together. Throw a local shop cash and have them do it while they're working on other projects.
  2. Just installed Dee Zee FX running boards on my truck, very happy with how they turned out and equally disappointed that I didn't spend the money before the winter. They went on easy and there's very few things I would have changed. We'll see how clean they keep the side of my truck
  3. I've accidentally left my truck in auto the day after a snowstorm and didn't notice a difference in driving characteristics but like everyone else said, there's no benefit to it, only cons unless it's raining or snowing.
  4. My friend has a 4.3L 2wd Silverado that he tows his race car in an enclosed trailer with. He scaled it once and it was roughly 7,600lbs fully loaded. I'm amazed at how well it tows and the race track is about 1.5hrs away so it's not a short drive. He was going to change the gearing but ultimately decided to just use it as is because it worked so well.
  5. That was hard to watch but I purchased these a few months back and haven't gotten around to doing this. I will update when I do.
  6. Today I had the rare chance to deal with ice and mud, the tires don't even notice they're not on dry pavement. I'm not 100% in love with these tires but traction is definitely not the issue. Last time it snowed I held my truck sideways uphill in 2wd to make a path for the cars struggling behind me and I could let off at any time and regain traction. I probably looked like an idiot but everyone made it and people get stuck pretty easily most storms.
  7. This is the best I could get where it meets the bed. This is on a GMC so I have the wheel well trim also. It's tucked up enough to hide the LEDs from anyone who isn't blatantly looking for them. Hope this helps.
  8. I asked them if that promotional price covered the 5100s that fit my vehicle and they haven't gotten back to me in a week.
  9. Is there any reason why a set of 5100s would fit a 2018 Silverado 1500 and not fit a 2014 Sierra 1500 with the same drive train and trim level? 4 Wheel Drive Parts is $297 shipped but it says it will fit one and not the other. Their site says the ones for the 2014 are $360.
  10. Thanks for the followup, that's good info. I actually bought the severe gear a few weeks ago and haven't gotten around to changing it out yet. This weekend may prove to be the perfect opportunity.
  11. I was under the impression that our factory gaskets were a quality piece and reusable, is this not the case? My experience is that rtv makes a mess for the next time and to only use it as a last resort.
  12. I did the same strategy, If I'm going to tow or haul anything I can add some air to the rear but for everyday driving it's 3psi lower out back.
  13. While mine are new and I'm hesitant to judge a brand new tire on how they actually perform, they've been nothing short of amazing in the rain. We've had light rain, heavy rain, flooding, you name it. They grip well and don't hydroplane. I did autocross with my old car rain or shine so I feel I'm a bit for picky about grip than the average consumer and I was impressed with this regardless of their price range.
  14. I was looking more for feedback based on experience. I've already strayed from the door sticker. I was thinking of bumping it up some more but wasn't sure what pressure started wearing the center tread faster.
  15. I know this thread is from last year but it was the most recent thread I found about these tires. What are people running for pressures in these? The tire place set them to 36psi as stated on the door sticker but upping them to 42 resulted in a bump in mileage.
  16. Bummer about the volume, I use steering wheel controls almost exclusively but the trade off is worth it. I have my stuff in a box ready to go whenever you're ready haha.
  17. I forgot to ask this Monday, what are the odds that the bad module was an isolated issue and you wouldn't run into it with one that we provided?
  18. It's very hard to quantify what shocks are doing in real world conditions. The bobble head example I initially gave is something I imagine 90% of people who own these trucks can relate to which is why I used it. I come from a motorsports background so I can list off a bunch of jargon that isn't gonna mean squat to most people. If you don't find yourself bobbing, or shuddering down dirt roads, or getting a little tail happy when towing then you're probably fine waiting until a shock fails.
  19. I completely understand where you're coming from, which is why I said it's okay to be blissfully ignorant. Hopefully my tone did not convey ignorance as stupidity because that was not my intent. Something like a Bilstein 4600 I would consider a factory replacement/upgrade and nothing near the realm of an off road shock. It would be great if you lived close enough to another member to try them side by side. I put them in my father's truck and when I got mine I was reminded of how worthwhile it is to do.
  20. That's not a deal breaker then. I don't even notice what the screen looks like half the time but I like the dash accents in red. Didn't see any reason this would affect them but had to clarify.
  21. By red lighting do my mean on the clock and temp at the top of the screen or is there more to it? I'm guessing this doesn't mess with the dash lighting.
  22. Excellent first post. That's a decent deal for people who were willing to pay $750 for this upgrade.
  23. The second you need a second guinea pig I can have my stuff shipped out, just give me a price and an address when the time comes.
  24. GM put the same rotor on both sides of the Corvette, their flagship model, to save $0.10 a car... the rotors cracked and failed because rotors are directional and shocker, people drive Corvettes hard. The bean counters have to get their way and "throwaway" items like tires and suspension are the first on the chopping block.
  25. I've found that the people who are happy with the Ranchos are blissfully ignorant to good suspension and that's okay. Even in this thread I've seen the contentious comments from owners who can't justify trying something different so they act like everyone else is trying to be an elitist. If anyone needs a good test pull into a parking lot that has an elevated entrance that you hit at an angle. Do that in a stock z71 and then a truck with upgraded suspension. You will go from a bobble head to a smooth transition and finally see what people are talking about. I've done $1k a corner Ohlins on a purpose built vehicles and 4600s on daily drivers, both and leaps and bounds better than stock.
