GMCdev Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 I don't see many 03-06 Sierra 1500 ECLB 4x4 out there. I've only seen one and it was in some tv series. Anyone here have one or seen one around? I can't find any pics.
asleep83 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I've seen a few come through the shop mostly special order ones for fleet customers. Although I have seen alot more 1500 GMT900 in the extended cab long box configuration.
C. Charles Hahn Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Only ones I've seen that are 03-07(Classic) are usually 2500 or 3500s in that config.
2COR517 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I don't know why, but ECLB is much more common in Fords and Dodges. My 97 is ECLB.
02silveradols Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I just saw one at work the other day. I will try to get a picture next time I see it.
Quint Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 ECLB half-tons don't sell really well. The long wheelbase makes for a much rougher ride compared to smaller wheelbase models. There's a stretch of I-40 just west of OKC where even my ECSB "teeter-totters" while going down the road. I bet that stretch is hell on a longer truck.
pj5454302 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 worked on a eclb on tuse. It was a work truck lt, sullivans truck with a cap.
GMCdev Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 Thanks for all the feedback everyone. If anyone can get some pictures that would be sweet the ones I have are just too grainy.

Not sure what the deal is but most people go for the standard bed in crew or extended cabs. It does make the truck pretty long which is a real pain sometimes in parking lots designed for cars. I use my truck for farm work so having a shorter bed is not efficient for me. I have a 2006 Silverado 1500 extended cab long bed. I went to look at 2500s last year and it was near impossible to find the same configuration.

Generally speaking, a longer wheelbase gives a better ride. My ECLB is a 3/4 ton. I have had a couple of Ford 1/2 ton owners comment how nice it rides.

I would agree, longer bed trucks ride better, all other things being equal. The body angle change as it rides up and down irregularities in the road will be less.
2COR517 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I'm thinking GM was the first company to really pitch the Extended Cab as the "new family vehicle" Of course the shortbed is less expensive, but I think it has much more to do with getting mama to buy in. Chop 18 inches off, and now it's not so intimidating to drive in town or park it. Personally, I don't think I would ever buy a short bed pickup. Unless its a hot little '72.........

Yeah the way I see it a trucks bed should be longer then the cab. It just looks right.
puppyduks Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 All our trucks are hunting rigs and farm rigs. We are having a baby and with two other kids we needed a ECLB, but could not find a good used one. The short bed double cabs would never work, the bed's waaay too short to hold a decoy cart full of gear and a dog box. So I just decided to get a Yukon Denali for kid hauling and kept our F250 and Ford Ranger (an awesome hunting rig that can go anywhere) trucks for hunting. I never could figure out why the short bed double cabs are so much more popular than the long bed versions.
GMCdev Posted August 2, 2009 Author Posted August 2, 2009 Yeah well as said earlier the cc short bed are more popular in the city because its short and the family hauling. I managed to get some decent pics of a eclb on tv... But I don't know how to post them on this site...
