Small Pond Under My Feet!

I have seen this come up in other discussions before, but I need help! I have a 2003 Silverado, extended cab, and the driver's floor is soaking wet. The water is coming from rain. It is not splash, the floor gets wet even if it is sitting still while it is raining. I have had the windshield replaced, and that did not help. It is a pain, and I don't want a mold issue. I have looked under the dash, and I can't find anything that is wet. Nothing is dripping. It just gets wet when it rains. Any ideas?? THANKS!!!

I have to be honest, when I first read that reply I thought it was a smartass "you could put down paper towels and see if that solves the problem". But that is a good idea. It could help you trace to where it's coming in. Then I'm guessing its a weather stripping issue.

The carpet is gray, and when it is wet, it is very dark. It does not get wet on the surface. the water seeps up from the pad, mainly where my heel sits. The carpet pad is holding the water.

Bump!

Almost a year later, and still no result. I have had the windshield replaced, and sealed the roof lip to the A pillar. Still leaking! No more, no less.

Does anyone have anything? I'm drowning over here!! :P

I had the same issue and could not find the leak. I have leak tested over 50 vehicles in my past life of an autobody tech of 10 years and this was the first I could not find the source. Moved the carpet, padding and soaked the truck along the pillar, windshield, back windows and door. I even changed the door seals on both sides. That reduced the leak and the carpet did not seem to get wet but the weatherstrip still showed signs of water pooling in the recess between the bulb and the body. My problem was with when I replaced the hinge pin bushing, the water shield no longer sealed and was allowing water to bypass the drain holes in the door shell and enter the cab. Sealed it with trim spray adhesive and it no longer leaks. I also put dumdum or 3M autobody strip caulk along the top seam of the door frame before replacing the weather strip, this seams to redirect the water and keep the weather strip from sagging. Give it a try and it will take days of warm air blowing directly onto the padding to dry it all out.

And yet, I had a swimming pool and the carpet was wet in the front wheel well and in front of the back seat.

Let us all know how it goes.
