Diff Btwn Work Truck And Other Models

In general, what are the significant differences between a truck called a "work truck" and one that's considered one of the supposedly snazzier models?

Is it just cosmetics and styling, or are there significant performance-related, or other more technically-related differences I should think about?

I've never much cared for "style points", so as long as the truck has the basics I want (engine, tranny, etc) for however I intend to use it, it's probably worth my consideration. But while shopping online I can't walk around and kick the tires, so I thought I'd ask here, first.

Truck mechanics are the same, the difference is in the options.

Work truck is just a basic truck. Same engine and tranny, but no power anything, no carpeting, very ugly cheap looking wheels, and 0 chrome. If you don't care about appeareance then a work truck will do. If you want your truck to look nice you start with an LS and up. I personally would loathe having to roll down a the passenger side window while driving. Matter of fact, it would be nearly impossible and unsafe while driving. IMO work trrucks are very unattractive looking.

They got rid of the LT2 in the 2009 models. Which sucks if I ever want another truck. It has the right balance of options I want. I'm not a fan of the looks of the LTZ fake wood interior and I don't like bench seats on the LT1.

My question is, when the hell are they going to do express down and up on all windows, including the rear sliding window. It can't be hard to do, they have down for 2 windows, what's down for 3 more and up for all? That's my biggest peeve.

A W/T is every bit as capable as an LTZ.

Has A/C, OnStar and some other goodies, but doesn't have all the doo-dads.

When I bought my truck, they had three or four to choose from in 4x2 mode....a stripper WT, the LT1 I bought, and a couple with power seats, heated seats, leather and all the rest of the options....$4500 MORE THAN MINE. The difference in price between the WT and my LT1 was about $1100, and the carpet and power windows and cruise control were things I liked....I bought the truck and made a lot of changes and upgrades. I bougt a set of leather upholstry from a dealer going out of business...it is what they installed if a customer wanted leather on a truck that was in stock...cost $400 and four days to install...could not work on it the third day because my fingers hurt so bad...ouch!!

Point is that all the trucks are the same in terms of hardware and performance, it is just the creature comforts that add to the MSRP.....I enjoy doing my own upgrading, modifying, etc, and some guys hate it...I have thought about adding heated seat elements, but not sure. I did switch out the little center front jump seat for the full length console....dealer wanted $1200, and I got a really nice one on ebay for about $250....everything interchanges, with a little work...kinda fun, too.

So you actually stiched the leather on your seats? Sounds like a PITA job to do. Any pics of the seats I can see? I eventially want to reaplce the seats in my truck and have leather, and heated seats too! I don't have power seats, and really would like to upgrade the seats to buckets or captain chairs. But seeing how my seat belt is mounted to my actual seat, I guess that limits the type of seats I can get.
