Fixed my Cruise Control

After tracing all of the vacuum lines connecting to it and discovering that all were in place, I got frustrated and took it to NAPA for a little assistance I got it figured it out.

After plugging the manifold vacuum source directly into the diaphram for the cruise, we discovered that the diaphram was working just fine, but, there was no cable connecting it to the throttle on the carb.   Nor was there when I swapped carbs a few weeks ago.

It was probably there on the OE carb but whoever put the Carter on way back when must have not replaced that cable.

So I fabricated my own cable out of 22awg wire and installed it.  Success!

It's good to know that it cost me nothing to fix it.  Check another thing off the gigantor wish list.

Don't ya just love the vacumn operated cruise control?  The old Regal I used to drive (it was an 81) had its cruise set up this way and you could always count on it going anywhere beteen 65 and 80mph if you set the cruise at 70mph.  LOL

lol!

I've noticed that it's not too accurate at slower speeds (35-45, etc) but up around 60 where I set it to and from work, it seems to hold that great, not even wavering more than 2 mph either direction.

If I hit the button at 5-15 mpg, it takes off like I stomped on it... LOL
