New Stereo

Had my radio smashed in a couple of weeks ago and just bought one from the local junkyard. Well from what i have read they are "Theft Locked". How do you get it functional in a new vehicle. I have the model number and the vin from the truck it came out of. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Never dealt with that exact model of radio but with other theftlock radios it is normally a series of buttons you press to unlock it. Example: it may be 1,4,2,5 then tune up or someting like that. Usuallly always a series of button pushes. But the tricky thing is getting the code, dealers like to charge for that kind of stuff

You just go to the dealer and they will take the serial # off of the radio and give you the code to unlock it...Never had a dealer charge me for this...Have done it several times with my mercedes and honda but not with my GMC, so I dont know if GMC charges???
